Working and watching

Helen and Ruth at our 50th wedding anniversary. Helen had Ruth looking snazzy that night!

Seems like lately we are just working and watching. Working around Marks house to get it ready to sell, and waiting for word from Helen concering Ruth. We went up to see her for a little while today. I am always a little too concerned when too many folks are in a room with a dying patient. So when more folks came I felt we should leave. These are folks that love her too, most know her as 'Nanny'. She has a wonderful supportive family.

Shirl and I are the only family on her husbands side. She was married to our oldest brother Odis. Ruth has had more than her share of grief. She had three sons, neither reached 45 years of age and one passed at 36. Our brother died at 61/62.

Amazing that her daughter in laws have always been supportive. Helen especially, she has stuck with Ruth like a daughter. She will not leave the room, and is with Ruth again tonight. She is also protective of Ruth and takes care of her like a guard. We tried to relieve her today but she flat refused.

If not for Helen some government agency would be 'seeing after Ruth's welfare'.

Helen herself is a great mother and grandmother. She exudes love and caring.

Thanks for coming by the log,

Nite Shipslog

PS:

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

Jack & Sherry,
I'm so thankful she is surrounded by love. I did home health and hospice for almost 15 years, it was so sad when family support wasn't there. Then in 1999 I became a widow myself at age 45. My heart goes out to all of you.

Helen has taken care of her like she was her
mother. She is very protective and meets every
need for Ruth. She is a wonderful person and
deserves praise for standing by Ruth all these
years. Over the past years we have had our share
watching our family members go through their last days and it never gets easier.

makes you think of that Bible story with Naomi and Ruth when you think of Helen and Ruth; so wonderful that the daughters in law had that connection with Ruth that remained long after their husbands had passed

Sounds like Helen has a lot of Ruth in her soul.

Families show their finest "stuff" when death comes. Helen is the kind of person I respect in any of life's crises. God bless all of you during this time of grieving. Love y'all.

I've had to spend time watching and waiting. It's never easy. But it does make a difference when there is a caring family around. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
