Adjusting shower water temperature

We are having a terrible storm.  On the generator. the workers are using the generator power between rains.

Today’s exciting entry!

I was 17 before I used a real shower for a bath. Up until then a shower was something I ran thru on the way to the YMCA pool because you had to take a bath before entering.

I always thought that was sort of silly, take a bath before getting in all that water. Besides the shower was always COLD.

My first showers were community showers where 70 men tried to use 15 shower heads in fifteen minutes. So there were about 30 men at a time taking a shower. By the time I got to the water it was adjusted, no problem.

I always adjust the shower by reaching thru the curtain to test it before getting in. It the arrangement is not good for that, I get in and hold my wash rag over the shower head and adjust it.

I admire you folk who can get in and turn it on (ICE COLD) and wait for the correct temp. WHoa, I cannot take that.

The one in the motor home is good, It has a detachable shower head and I can adjust it while pointing it at my feet.

I think it should be a rule that the guy adjusts the water for the gal (with eyes shut of course).  This to keep her from adverse cold shock or scalding herself, strictly humanitarian, that is me, a humanitarian..showercat

I am lying, I just remembered my first showers. They were in the summer, in the country  at High Shoals. In the hot summer mama would get the hose pipe  and let me and Shirl run thru it. That was a delight. Towards the end of the play time, she added a little soap to me. That wasn’t necessary for girls, for some reason they were born clean and stayed that way. Their hair must have kept dirt from being behind their ears too. I never did see mama wash Shirl’s ears, but mine? She scrubbed them.

Have you had your bath today???? We passed a barn the other day that had tin tubs hanging on the side. Brought back a lot of memories of those baths in a tin tub.

(And then there is this, from up in Mel, Darla & Cher’s country)

Thanks for coming this way

PS:

Two engineering students were biking across a university campus when one said, "Where did you get such a great bike?" The second engineer replied, "Well, I was walking along yesterday, minding my own business, when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike, threw it to the
ground, took off all her clothes and said, "Take what you want."

The first engineer nodded approvingly and said, "Good choice: The clothes probably wouldn't have fit you anyway."

Yes Jack I have had my bath today but its so hot I'm taking two these days. When I was young and we lived in the country my Daddy rigged up a shower outside the house. Late one afternoon as I started to step out there was a snake in front of the makeshift door. I screamed at the top of my lungs, jumped over the snake nekked as a jaybird and didn't stop running until I was inside the house.

I remember those days at the Y taking a shower before getting in the pool. We all wore swim caps too so our hair wouldn't get in the water. We always tried to keep our hair dry but the water went up under the swim cap anyway. My how things change. It's been cool in the 70's this week here and I'm loving it. Next week back in the 80's but that is way better than 90 or 100. Take good care and hope your power gets back on.

I can't stand cold showers! We always let that washtub sit out in the sun on Saturday to heat the water for a couple of hours before starting our baths. Looks to me like that Moose was jumping backward just like I do when the water is cold!

Once my husband and I camped at a bluegrass festival. I'm a late sleeper, and by the time I got my shower, they had run out of hot water at the campground. I said to myself, "I can do this," so I hopped into that COLD shower. It was so strange hearing myself gasp when I didn't know I was going to! "U-U-U-U-U-U-U-H-H-H!"

I always adjust the water temp with the water running through the faucet before I switch to the showerhead.

I once turned the shower on my husband before the water warmed. I always regretted that I did that because never again would he let me shower with him.

Teaching a 6 or 7 year old to shower is quite a feat. They think you are waterboarding them if you get them to wet their hair.
I remember when our kid was learning to shower. We could hear him singing as the water poured. When he got out he had not washed his hair. Did you wash your face? No. Did you wash your elbows? No. Did you wash your feet? No. Well what did you do?
LOL.
