This is a Log as we travel to keep us in touch with the real world. We spent a lot of time in the real world now we love the space in the travel world. We live and love full time in our motor home. We tow a Honda CRV to scout around in. We have driven to Alaska and all the lower 48 states. We parked and took a side trip to Hawaii. After traveling in over 20 countries we are most proud of the 1900+ miles we hiked on the Appalachian Trail. Our plans are to travel as long as our health allows.

Just about comments.

Today:
I thoroughly appreciate comments. It is nice to know someone likes what you have written enough to take time to write. I smiled at Glenda’s comparison of the Seamstress and Carpenter. Both start with raw goods and both create something useable and beautiful. I appreciate EVERYONE who reads. Sherry reads most of your blogs but never comments, except to me. We all know that more people read than comment. Friend Bonnie used to get discouraged because of lack of comments on her blog. I always reminded her: look at the times your blog has been read. Someone is interested in what you say. That didn’t help a whole lot, of course we all like comments, or re-enforcement.
That said, I thought I had ‘fixed’ my ‘e-mail report on comments, but alas I have not. I usually review my last three posts to see if comments have been added. That way at least I get to see what most people think. But I have had readers practice what I do at times, that is click on the ‘next blog’ feature at the top and read blogs from over the world at random. It is fun. Many times I will make a comment.
I have received comments on entries from months ago
because someone was searching a particular subject. HA! ‘Search’, I use that term because that is the term used with the first computers. Now the word ‘Google’ has replaced that in this generation. When I ask a question among family at times, someone will say, ”Why not Google it.” I smile inside. Had you said that 50 years ago in the computer room, you would have been laughed to shame for being comical or silly.
I have been tempted to use the ‘preview comments’ feature to force me to see the comments. I have never used it, how does that work? If you use it, are you notified when someone comments, do you see ALL comments, even on entries from a month ago?
Thanks in advance if you are familiar with that feature.
I guess I could try it, I might day after tomorrow!

I haven't done the next blog feature in a long time. It was fun to see what blogs would come up. I do think a lot more read than leave comments. That's why I always caution people to be careful what they write. They have no idea who might be reading these blogs of ours. I haven't done that about the previous comments so I'm no help to you on that, hopefully someone else will be able to help you. I truly do enjoy blogging and getting comments is one of the best parts of it!

I review all my comments...,and Blogger used to notify me when I would get a comment. It doesn’t do that any more, so I have to remember to click on “comments”....and then “awaiting moderation”.... and then I can add them or not add them. There were soooo many spam comments, and that is why I decided to moderate years ago.
ReplyDeleteNow, I have to remember to check on “comments”....,and at my age, remembering why I came into a certain room in the house is becoming a “feat” now!! But, to answer your question, I use comment moderation. I just have to remember to check it. 😊😊
But....at least if you use the comment moderation feature, you can see if someone has commented on any post on your blog at any time. The comments will all show up there.
DeleteI get email notifications on some, and some I don’t. You happend to be one I “don’t” get notification from. I have not figured out the reason yet but just to be sure I do not miss one, I do like you and look back at a few and make sure I have read them all. I like comments. It gives me motitvation. It also gives me new blog post to check out. I will usually go comment back to alll who comment on mine. However, I do not always comment on all that I read. Usually because I do not have a clue what to say back to the post I just read. Haha.
ReplyDeleteIm not sure what “comment preview” is.
Off to work

Ok, I'll admit to having read the post and then not commented...usually my thoughts about the subject have already been stated and I'd feel like a "copycat", but I do appreciate the fact that the author enjoys the feedback.
ReplyDeleteI cannot help you with the features you're looking for as that's outside my expertise. My joke is that I wasn't born with an Ipod in my hand and have to rely on a youngster or Verizon staff to help me or "Google it", that really does help sometimes!!!
Ever since I starting leaving a comment on each blog post I write and click on the box that says email follow up comments I always see all the comments made on my blog. I do love to blog, but I don't like the changes that have happened on blogger and still cannot comment at all on many that I used to be able too. On the bright side, I can still comment on yours. I don't get many comments on mine, but am very thankful for them. Your's are always a delight.
ReplyDeletePart of the reason I stopped blogging and just commenting on the blogs I still follow, like yours, was because of the spam comments like Jackie was talking about. It became very frustrating but at least, back then, I could delete them permanently. Is that possible? Anyway, yes, comment review was helpful to me. I hate to miss any of your posts so I do check back. I hear it all the time from the younger generation~Google it! love the Chrysler.
ReplyDeleteloven'hugs from up north where my dear man is at the glass shop getting the rock chip fixed on the front window of the truck. In winters cold, a simple little chip can quickly spread to a nasty big crack.
Are you saying that you do not get your comments forwarded to you?
ReplyDeleteAfter you post a blog - go to the comments. Make a comment. Then where it says forward all comments after this and check it.
All the comments will come to you.
Like Lisa, yours and Terretarre's are the only comments that I'm not notified of by e-mail. Never fear! I'm so 'hungry' for validation (*smile*) that one of the first things I do each morning is go to my "Posts" tab and check the little ticker. Yes, I still remember getting my very first comment. The day I had two was a real cause for celebration, and three? I was walking on air! LOL!
ReplyDeleteBlog friend Sandra (MadSnapper) recently used a great word to describe her curiosity: "Investigoogle."
i'm never notified of comments. i see them when i see them.

Thanks for sharing this most unusual sighting (though the event itself may not be that unusual). Your description and photos clearly re-enact the scene; you will no doubt remember this for a very long time. JOKER123.
