No red nose but dirty beard rubbed on with charcoal. I also dressed my little 4 year old nephew as a hobo back when me and Rick were dating. I enjoy seeing all the little ones dressed up for Halloween. I attended the Halloween evet at Church in the Woods, the kids had a wonderful time, safely. Buggy rides in the dark and miscellaneous games, tossing bean bags and rings for candy prizes. Of course, dinner was served with lots of Halloween decorated sweet stuff ~ you can freeze those candy bars ya know? Some of the neighbors knew this but they give us a second round of candy for the effort. We would sometimes get sneaky and hide to scare the little ones.
fun times.

from over here
LisaLisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03109633602729593188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874656382203957840.post-91387397307292619302018-11-02T11:18:19.416-04:002018-11-02T11:18:19.416-04:00What great images you've chosen! We, too, had no trick-or-treaters; probably on account our house sets well apart (and "someone" left the porch light off so "they" might have candy for "themselves" - lol.)

My mother would've never considered a store-bought costume. She was a wonderful seamstress … and dad, a great imagination. The ONLY costume I requested was a "Flying Purple People Eater" (remember that song?) … but by that time I think they considered me "too old" to be going out.

You are the ONLY one I know who has ever mentioned soaping windows. Unfortunately, no-one remembers … but I've vivid memories of the local dime store inviting we children up to their storefront with pails of water and soap bars. I suppose it must have been 1955 or so; definitely a highlight that's stuck with me. THANKS for the memories!Mevely317https://www.blogger.com/profile/14786988262452989091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874656382203957840.post-1488457978543528542018-11-02T09:37:57.545-04:002018-11-02T09:37:57.545-04:00Sorry you had not little ghost or goblins come to ...Sorry you had not little ghost or goblins come to your door, I know they would have been in for a big treat if they had shown up. I was over at one of son's house for trick or treat and they were very busy there. With all kinds of kids trick or treating. Here where I live, they did a big party at the club house but no one trick or treats. The must go elsewhere, because most of us are older...not many kids. Yes, our blogging community is a means of great support and I too appreciate it. So many churches here had trunk or treat events with bouncy houses, etc. I am wondering if more people are opting for things like that rather than going door to door. The homemade costumes are the best, but I don't think I saw any of them last night. Most were store bought ones.

bettybettyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06323135450742337670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874656382203957840.post-6433894402703246932018-11-01T22:19:54.996-04:002018-11-01T22:19:54.996-04:00I had missed the post about Gary- I am so sorry an...I had missed the post about Gary- I am so sorry and prayers are going up. I didn't realize you were a preacher's kid. John has been a pastor for the last 20 years and we always caught flack from those "believers" that thought the Halloween was the Devil's holiday. Kind of sad and I know a lot of religions forbid their children to dress up and celebrate the holiday. As for me, I am so glad to see even my young teenage grandkids being just kids and having fun doing kids' stuff rather than drinking or doing drugs.

I well remember those masks! Some of them were kind of transparent and would have just the eyes, nose, mouth colored in so your skin showed through when you put the mask on.

I hope you and your sweetie have a wonderful night and upcoming weekend. xo DianaNanaDianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14298962791700019785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874656382203957840.post-45942391030643681742018-11-01T20:57:32.563-04:002018-11-01T20:57:32.563-04:00It is hard to lose a loved one and friend.
