Today ramblings:

We said goodbye for the last time to Louise. Shirl and Jack (jr) sang well. Grandson Joshua played the piano and does remarkably well, I wish my hearing was so I could enjoy the finer points. But it is a thrill to know that he does so well. (It is spring break for him, now it is downhill for Graduation. The the Real up hill climb starts.)

Louise has been pretty nuch a life long friend of Sherry’s, I did not know her until the last few years. I knew Sam, he is the one I joined the USMC with. Sam was there and his brother Ray. (I met Ray in the last few years also.) It was a rainy, dreary day. Joe Lawing, Louise’s pastor and a great guy, done a great job. He was great at the grave site. Joe is the most laid back minister I know. He talked to the family just like they were meeting an office or luncheon. Joe sets everyone at ease. So other than the weather (which Louise did not mind at all) everything went well..

Concerning yesterday’s entry. If you have raised children and they did not give you a minute’s trouble, you should be thankful. You probably have done a lot of things right. On the other hand, there have been kids raised ‘right’ who became the worst offenders. And others who had no chance, a terrible home life, and turned out good. I don’t know how we learned about NARANON but we started attending the meetings. We did need support, and it helped. It is a strange thing how educators can put a profile together that fits 98% of drug/alcohol users. We could go down the list and see our boys clear, except for the one point that said: the child would steal from the parents. That was one thing our boys never did.

The reason I brought it up was we met folks from every station of life who had major problems. There was a Police Chief, A car Dealer’s wife, an attorney and everyday folks like us. We all were the same and in agreement, ‘My kid was so well behaved and good in school (or business), I never dreamed he would be like this.’ Looking back over our country’s history, drugs and alcohol have had a lasting effect on our nation. We are housing more criminals because of those two things than anything else. Thanks for reading these rantings…

Jack, Jr. does a marvelous job on the "Anchor Holds". Josh was good playing the Prelude and Postlude and our duet. I had just got though saying I am not singing at another funeral. Billie saw me and said I want the same songs at my Funeral I think she is in her 80's. I said please don't go soon.

Enjoyed your pictures. Laughed at your title of your entry. Good one. Children. Ours is good most of the time. I don't want to say anything to goof that trend up. lol
Hope you all are having a nice weekend. We sure are here. Our weekends are so nice we grieve on Sunday nights at having to go back to work the next day.

I agree completely with your comment on your last entry. I know I'm very lucky to not have had any major problems with my daughters. I'm not bragging on grandchildren yet as I still have two in high school and I do know it can happen to anyone. Frankly I would like to see them hang the drug dealers on the court house steps.

Sorry I didn't make it by yesterday, internet was down until late last night. That was a very honest entry yesterday, you can only do your best and hope for the best when it comes to your children. I am glad Sonny is doing better, thanks for sharing the pictures. Have a great day, Sheila

I'm so glad to hear that Sonny is doing better. I hope he has more improvement in the days to come.

I always think it's sad when it's raining and dreary on the day of a funeral. I know sunshine won't make things better for the loved ones saying goodbye but the rain somehow makes it seem more gloomy. I wish you were able to hear Shirl & Jack Jr. singing and Josh playing the music too. I'm sure it was hard for them to do so.

thanking the Lord that Sonny is doing better! thank you Lord! I'm sure it was hard to say goodbye to Louise today; I'm glad the service went well

I agree with what you said Jack with parenting and how kids come out; sometimes those that caused the most problems turn out to be really dynamically used by the Lord and that's what I'm hoping for with my son :) (he's not a bad kid he's just made some stupid decisions along the way but he, like your son, would never steal from us nor does he disrespect us by talking back etc; he sometimes just finds the wrong road/path to take, but then the Lord puts him back where he should be for a bit; I know the Lord is working on him and I'll just wait and see what happens :)

hope you/Sherry have a great Sunday

Shirl was very proud of the way things went yesterday and that is good. Her friend is at rest todaY. It must be a little bit hard not to hear all that goes on but it sounds to me like you do pretty well. As for the young people, if they can lick that addiction while in their youth, it may never happen again to any of the family. I think in my sons case and this is no excuse, born 6 weeks premature, he has an odd walk, which could not be fixed by Dr's, no self esteem, tendency to alcoholism. He never stole from us except to break my heart because I could not help him no matter what I did. I will just saY, I love him and ALWAYS will. I think he has more self esteem todaY THAN EVER IN HiS LIFE BUT HE STILL WON'T LET ME IN.Maybe someday, somewhere. Lucy
