SEPTEMBER 22, 1956, 54 YEARS AGO!!!!!

This union did not start with the traditional, "I DO!"

September 22, 1956 was the luckiest day of my life. Sherry said yes to me. When the justice of the peace asked me if I took Sherry as my wife I answered as a Marine should, “Yes Sir”. When he asked Sherry if she would have Jack as a husband, she also answered, “Yes Sir” and he pronounced us man and wife. He could have just as well said Boy and wife. I was 17 and she was beautiful.

Pictures from our past, no order! Just happy!

"Pictures from years past, no order, just us ACTING happy!!!

But this was September 22, 1956 Pfc and Mrs. Jack Darnell

And below is US a few weeks ago at Teton Pass, in Wyoming.

We have had some rough times. We have scrimped and with Sherry’s help we have saved. WE have lived in Trailers, Apartments, Houses, a van, a tent and a converted chicken house. We have traveled together roughly over a million and three quarters miles. Some were rough, but all ended up being rewarding.

So today, on our 54th wedding anniversary I just want to express here, my love for Sherry Harris Darnell, the most beautiful, loving and faithful wife in the world.

I love you Darling. I could not have been happy without you!!!

Thanks for coming this way, now I must sign off. My Love awaits a wonderful evening.

PS:
We have been visiting with Buddy and Di today, tonight we go to Sherry's favorite, "The Red Lobster". After that? Wow! do I love special occasions.

Congratulations on what sounds like a wonderful 54 years! Red Lobster would be my choice too. Sherry must share my love of seafood. Course they have steak too, but I always get the coconut shrimp there. Their cheesy biscuits are great too. I hope you both have a wonderful celebration. Happy Anniversary!

Congratulations! That is quite an accomplishment.

I've been thinking lately that living in a tent might not be so bad...depending on where that tent was pitched...
