Dreaming? Sometimes it becomes reality!

Sonya started off her blog a couple days ago dreaming of a great place to write, a cozy cabin was her thoughts.  I thought of the wonderful cabin Dar & Bill built back in the quiet of the timbers. What a get away!

(Bill, Me & what's her name, Darla!, bet there ain’t any green grass there now!!)

We visited the home of Carl Sandburg in the Mountains of North Carolina.  To get back to his house, you had to walk. There was no road in.  He had a great room at the very top with an inspirational view. Side note, his wife raised award winning goats there, what ever that means.

Then there was not so peaceful site of Hemmingway‘s home in Key West. He didn’t even have a great view of the water later, but he had his cubby hole that he loved to relax in, when not at a bar.  I think they still reserve his seat at Sloppy Joe’s on Duval St.

Visiting Falmouth, Nova Scotia and many towns in New England, you encounter many widow walks.  Some writers have converted them to rooms for writing.  I have always thought that would be the IDEAL!

(the widow’s walks, something at the highest point of the house, so the wife could look out to sea, while the husband was at sea.)

When I first saw my girl, She had a dress down to her bobby socks and many Crinolines.  We got to know each other and feel in love.  Well I fell in heat, then fell in love, LOL.

The guys that got us together were Doug Carver, Dale Hartness along with Billy Ogden former boy friend(ha!) they were much older than us (2-4 yrs) haha.  Doug was already  married. After Sherry & I started going together, Dale married Hazel.

We visited them in at their cozy lover’s nest and outside I had to tell Dale that Sherry & I were French Kissing.(Well folks that was a BIG deal!) I was one proud Guy, knowing that Dale had now experienced Sex and I really wanted to know more about it.

I, A wise 16 year old, said, “French Kissing is sorta like sex,…. isn’t it?”

Dale already had a smile on his face and he laughed (not a mean one, just a knowing one), “Not even close Jack, not even close! You will find out!”(yeah, I was dumber than dirt!)

Anyway as I said if you dream enough, sometimes it comes true. (Well to be honest all my efforts were fruitless, there had to be a wedding first!) BUT  WOW!

I still dream, next month I will be 73, and yes, I still dream(with no limits). I will come up with a great idea for another business and say, “Hey, wouldn’t it be great to build a retirement home for seniors, it would be a great business!”  Yeah, open my mouth, then I get that look, ‘honey, you are retired!’ (Yeah… I know!)

I have always admired dreamers.  If not for dreamers we would not have electricity, light bulbs, RV’s and millions of other advancements. Thanks for coming by the log.

PS: (note to me)

WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's TROUBLES, BUT IT DOES take away today's PEACE.

That's one primo woody! WOW!

Visiting Key West is on my list of things to do next year! I'd like to have a seat at Hemingway's bar too! Enjoyed your post and photos!

I have always dreamed of having a cabin in the woods... near a lake, so I could write all day, taking in all the beauty of my surroundings for inspiration. At this late date, I'm still holding out hope, it will happen. Had to chuckle at your story about sex. My aunt and uncle got married and didn't know WHAT they were supposed to do? My parents old pros at being husband and wife, had to explain it to them. Those were the days, weren't they? Where innocence ruled. Take care.

Dreams are important. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you both.

Seems to me that you and Sherry are living your dreams. I don't have a cabin in the woods but I do have a camper in the woods and for me that is my dream. It's just there waiting for me when Spring comes. I have a view of the lake too. Although the trees often block it. All I have to do is just walk down the hill and it's there. Dreams are wonderful and we all have them, some greater than others, but to each his own. Have a wonderful Thursday!

I don't dream that often but when I do it seems to be a crazy mixed up dream. Joe has had dreams every since his heart surgery. He is always kicking at something or hitting. I move very quickly to wake him up. He almost kicked a WINDOW OUT. NEVER HAD THEM BEFORE.they are tapering off but I still don't trust him so just a few quick movements out of him and he is woke up.

Dream On! Following that dream has taken you to where you are today...with a good and loyal wife who has followed you to the ends of the earth and back and is still the woman who excites you most. You have been blessed Jack. And you know it.
