Pickles, are they good for you?

I am sitting here trying to decide which subject I want to use, and every time I start to type, I seem to have to quit and have another pickle slice. these are called ‘Bread &Butter’ pickles. I do not know where the name came from, but mama used to put-up some that tasted just like them, I never heard her call them anything other than pickles.

Even as a kid, I think I could eat a quart of them while listening to the radio at night.

I like dill pickles also.  I never ‘put-up’ any pickles.  I only had one session of canning and that was green beans and they all soured. But one year we had a lot of squash and friend Evelyn gave me a recipe for  squash pickles and they were good.

Oh yes and my neighbor ‘Good old Mr. Wilson’ out in Kirksville, MO, had a Beagle named Pickles. I liked that dog. Speaking of Beagles, I wonder about Spunky, I have lost Lucy again.

Thanks for stopping by. Life is good, and Florida is a good place to spend the winter (and it isn’t winter yet).

Ending Thanksgiving week and Sheila and the girls will be doing the Black Friday thing!

I am thankful for all my friends, the ones I see and the ones on the internet.

I like baby gherkins. And kosher dill pickles. And I always liked the expression, "I'm in a pickle."

PS) A Chicago hot dog is scrumptious.

I had to delete my comment I can't
type anymore. I think my computer
made the error.

Don't know anything about pickles.
If they have lots of sodium they
would not be healthy. Pickles is
a cute name for a dog.

I will end my comment before I get
myself in a pickle. hee hee

I love pickles too. Jilda does pickles, peppers and a few other things...all of which I love.

Florida is a good place to winter. I have a lot of friends there.

If you're close to Jacksonville, you should get up with my blog buddy Janie junebug. She's a hoot.

Bread and butter pickles are the best! Any type of pickle is good on a sandwich or hamburger :)

I take the pickles our of my hamburger as I come to them. We had a pickle factory in my small home town. My friend's mama worked there and when the boss wasn't in she would give us a big dill pickle. Guess I liked them back then. I remember large wooden barrels sitting out side with a piece of tin to cover it with the pickle in them. The health department sure wouldn't allow that now but I don't think they made anyone ill.

ope you and the Mrs. had a Great Thanksgiving, we enjoyed the day just sharing it with each other and enjoying a nice home made Turkey and Trimmings Day.
Weather turned cold, we had 3 feet of snow, that melted and went away, it turned colder and we now have 3 inches of fresh snow.
Florida sounds nice !!!!!!!!!
Sending our Best from the frozen North,

I agree pickles are great. I love all the different kinds of them. I remember always having some on the table at dinner time. They do seem to go good with everything. I have made them, but that was a long time ago. They were a type of bread and butter pickles with slices of onion and pickling spices and vinegar. My mom used to drink the pickle juice, but not me. Glad you are enjoying Florida. I'm thinking that this time of year it must be a great place to be. I couldn't take the heat in the summer time though.

Oh no, This Sheila and her girls don't do black Friday or Thanksgiving shopping. There is nothing I need that bad...haha. Me and Jarin joke about taking the camera or video and heading to a parking lot to film the mayhem, but I'm too warm and cozy to actually do it. :-)) I need some snow, though my hubby doesn't share that sentiment. Have a great day in Florida, and I hope you and Sherry had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Take care, Sheila
