Our friend Lucy from out in the area of Nebraska, is back. Many of us met Lucy on AOL Journals. (On our trip around the USA in 2013 we dropped in unannounced to deliver one of my books)You can say hello on facebook.
Her confuser was confused for a while, but now she is back. Several folk have asked about her. Many folk enjoyed her blog, stories of the past, also Joe (the MAN) and Spunky the beautiful, though up in age, BEAGLE. Lucy stands out, because at 80+ yrs, that girl worries a computer problem until she whips it.

Many folk have gone to Facebook away from journals and blogs. I miss them, but that is their choice. Some like the immediate short responses. Shirl e-mailed me to tell me Lucy was back before I got the alert. Anyway I just wanted to tell the folk who have been asking. I saw Paula on FB quickly telling Lucy WELCOME BACK.
(He was able to get us together)
I seldom go to facebook, I do prefer bloggersville. I enjoy this medium. I am slow to make changes. I like taking the time to express myself, cause I need expressing and explaining. I am an odd character ( LOL), but I do enjoy being me.
(I met sweet Spunky before Lucy & I parted friends!)
Lucy is one of the many folks I have met on the internet that I consider a friend. Most of us have a few friends in this world, some have a lot of acquaintances, but they are not ‘friends’.

I have a couple problems with Facebook. One is Birthdays. I wish everyone a Happy birthday and I mean it. But I also wish people who are listed as friends that I do not know. This always comes to my attention when (like yesterday) when I get a notice from facebook that I have a ‘friend’ who has a birthday. Saying help your Friend, Doug Carver’ celebrate his birthday. I went down the list seeing name after name wishing him a happy birthday, problem is, sadly my real friend Doug passed away just a couple months ago.
When I say friend, I want to mean it. FRIEND has a real meaning to it, not just a name on FB. I am always amazed at the folks who send friend requests that I have never heard of. Then someone told me it was sort of a game with folks to see who could get the most friends, that confuses the heck out of me.
Anyway, the folks who are FOLLOWERS and COMMENTERS's on the Shipslog I get to know and do consider them friends. When I get a birthday notice, I respond to it, I really mean it. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, because I know you are still around..
We are a community, albeit, shrinking.
Nite Shipslog
PS:
I really do miss folks who used to be here and are gone.

I do have a love affair with classic cars. Love this 1957 Corvette. Not that I want them. I just enjoy seeing them. HOWEVER if I ever get the chance at a nice ‘55 Chevy tudor or a hardtop, I might just jump on it. (smile)

We occasionally get a frew friend requests from people we don't know on Facebook; I sometimes wonder if they think we are someone from their past that they might have gone to school with years ago, etc. I rarely friend them as I try to keep Facebook just for family and a few close friends from where we have lived. I do agree too about sometimes not having the up to date info on Facebook about people's status and the "like" button is good for some things, but not other things. For instance, a friend announces their parent has passed away. Should we "like" that? Those cases I won't like the post but will leave a sympathy comment. Social medial is wonderful, it just needs to be carefully used in my opinion :)

Nice update on Lucy. When you say she is back, do you mean just on Facebook? I do not have a Facebook account. Or is her blog back up and running? Do you have a link? There was no notification on my Dashboard? Excited to know she is out there. Have missed her.
I wish Lucy would blog again, at least once in a while, but I know it's her choice. I have a Facebook account but to me it just isn't the same. Sometime things get put on there that aren't true and you don't know how they got there. I know two people who gave it up because of this. They have me as working somewhere in the past that is my son-in-law's business. They keep asking me what I did there. Crazy!
Are you on facebook?
I was happy to see Lucy comment on Facebook, I hope she'll be back blogging soon. I had just looked up her number the day before and was going to call her. Oh yeah, I am caught up on blogs again. Little Stella is such a cutie, I enjoyed the blog of her day spent with you and Sherry :-) Take care, Sheila
I glad to see pictures of Lucy, Joe and Spunky. I hope when I get that
age I as tough as Lucy.
I need to get more up to date on
my computer..maybe later...
So glad to learn Lucy-n'-company are well. I'll never forget the day my first 'blog' friend (well, my only friend) up and disappeared. I prayed Linda simply chose another avenue in which to express herself; that she hadn't come to any harm.
A few of her other followers joined me in leaving messages, asking that she let us know she was OK.
After a year, we quit asking.
I know people come and go of their own volition, but I hate loose ends!
I'm so glad
to hear that
Lucy is alright
thanks, Jack!
Glad your friend is ok. I thought I had many friends in bloggersville but have lost many over the years. Strange how someone can be in your life for quite a few years and then totally disappear without a goodbye. I know FB had a lot to do with that but I'm still a blogger and like it too much to leave.
