It seems for the past 4 or 5 years we put ourselves in a dilemma at this time of year, do we send Christmas cards this year? It is true postage continues to go up, but that is not our controlling factor.
I read many entries on blogs and on FB and in comments, ‘I have ceased to send cards.’ The main problem we have is, ‘I do not want someone who has stopped, to feel bad or obligated when they receive one from us.
Soooooo this year reluctantly we cut the list away back. WE are dropping from more than 100 to about 30. Back to some family and the friends with whom we do not keep in contact with via the net. We have friends who are too old for the net .
Still we feel a little bad about it. Do you still send cards?
It was always a warm feeling to take them to the Post Office knowing our love was leaving in every direction.
But everything is subject to change. We no longer put up a large tree. But riding under our bed is a 24” ceramic Christmas Tree. Also stored are Christmas nick-knacks that Sherry spreads over the coach to let us know it is Christmas.
We have reached the point that we are each others Christmas present. We don’t need a thing, we have been blessed above our wildest dreams and honestly we do not have a lot of room for anything else.
Since Sherry is in the Card mood, I thought I would ask around.

Sending cards was a chore; I was glad to give it up.
Safe travels! I don't think I sent any cards last year, maybe just a handful to family. I remember my mom writing out her cards the first part of December; she did it to keep up with family since we lived many states away, but it was a chore she didn't look forward to and I would often help her address envelopes, etc.
I agree with you and Sherry about not giving gifts to each other. I was thinking about that yesterday as hubby asked me what I wanted for Christmas. There really isn't anything I want and it seems silly to come up with a list of things that I really don't need and may be a chore for someone down the line to dispose of.
But you are right; it was nice to get cards in the mail and to put them on the mantle or wherever and remember the special people who had sent them.

I'm in the process of writing a post about "Christmas Cards" too!!! Great minds think alike. Ha! I cut my list back from about 50 to about 25. Im always in a rush to get them out the day after Thanksgiving. But we also ponder the Question if we should do the cards this year. And always end up sending them out anyway.
Keep the Postman busy!

I still send cards out to close friends and family. My list has decreased in numbers over the years, but I haven't quit yet. Hope you have a safe trip back to Florida. It's a dark rainy day here, I need toothpicks to hold my eyes open. Ha !
Deep down, I suppose I'd like things to return to the way it was when my parents' closet door was overflowing with cards, family photos and chatty notes. Then again, as you pointed out, Facebook and instant messaging has replaced a lot of that.
Right now, I'm leaning not to send any.
... and in case I change my mind, there's always New Years greetings!
Grover and I don't exchange Christmas presents. If we did I would have to get me something for him, he don't buy gifts. Ha. We're having a plumbing problem again. I had the guy out today to check it and it needs a new line all the way to the road. This is a big bill so that will have to be our gifts to each other and might be for everyone else. (smile)I do send out some cards, but not all that many. They do look nice all around the room to look at during the holidays. You would think we were living way down in south Florida the way this weather is. I want some cold weather. Take care. Jean
I'm an all or nothing gal. Sending and receiving cards used to be my favorite Christmas thing. I sent to everyone I knew, close or far. Somewhere along the way I had enough. Now I send to no one. At first I felt a little guilty when I got one from some and I hadn't sent any. Now I'm guilt free.
I will not be sending Christmas Cards. I didn't send many last year.
We e-mail each other and can say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
I don't any presents either, I am not buying..been there done that.
To many things going on right now. So here's to you and Sherry
MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR, Love your Sister...
