I mentioned to friend Don that the
Proffitts were coming to visit. He said, "I wish a Prophet would visit
us." Yeah,That's friend Don. ;-)
On Thursday
The Proffitts did come to visit. Sherry fixed lasagna and a salad. It was
a great time.
We met them when we were assigned to
Albany, Georgia. They were a young couple with no children. It is hard to
believe they are now Grandparents. WOW
It is amazing. I would have recognized them on the street. They both still look
great. Jim was in Data Processing in the USN, working in Naval Intel school where
I was teaching.
What a treat, reminiscing and learning
of their lives since our time together. We went from Albany to Key West
together following the Albany Naval Air Station closing.
We are proud of Jim and Jean. He got
his degree in Data Processing after the USN. He entered Caterpillar as a welder
and worked his way up into management.
He was in charge of DP at the end of his
career. I was amazed to learn of his programming talents which reached into PC
and iphone programming. That is amazing to me. He has built ultra-secure
computers for Jean and himself.
What I got a kick out of was he also
loves wood. He builds furniture for his kids & grands. He had pictures of
his work which was top-notch. I smiled when he said he read the Shipslog. He
was interested in seeing the bathroom addition to the house after reading it on
the log.
Jean worked at NAS Key West and later in
Illinois. I understand when the two daughters came along she was a stay at home
mom. They both were answering my questions of Jim climb to fame I missed out on
here talks with Sherry.
It was such a joy to spend the day
with them before they flew back to Illinois. It is so amazing to see them
as RETIREES. Oh, by the way I was able to smile a little, Jim is
Bald. Still a handsome guy with a beautiful lady. A great couple. How
could that be? They were such kids! LOL
Nite Shipslog
These 1975 cars Chevy above and Imperial below were new when we said goodbye to the Proffitts.

How wonderful to reconnect, after all this time! That's pretty neat that Jim follows the 'Log.'
Crazy, but I was bored and happened to look up a (very) old friend the other day ... and sent a note with pictures from our joint 2nd birthday party. 'Not holding my breath, but it would be a real kick to hear from her.
Like we used to sing in Brownies, "Some are silver and the others gold."
Sounds like such a delightful visit! Always good to spend time with "old" friends. Its amazing how much time goes by and how fast and those that were once young are now advancing in years. Glad you all had a great time!
betty
HA! HA! We are not getting any younger and neither are our friends. You're lucky to be able to visit like you do with old chums.
Glad you and Sherry had a great visit with old (used to be young) friends.
What a blessing to connect with old friends from years back. I imagine you had a lot to catch up on. Nice he also reads your blog so can keep in touch with you too.
Great to revisit old friends. I sit here and think of any old friends I would like to get in touch with. I cant think of any. I had a very best friend in high school and search for her all over social media. I finally found her but other than a click of the "friend button" we dont connect. I think social media has messed up the whole reconnect thong nowday and its sad.
Off to church

You all were so blessed to have reconnected again ~~~ like your friendship went from then to now in an instant. We sure have to watch out for ' time ' catching up with us. I should just make the call one more time. I lost contact with a dear friend, like she fell off the face of the earth after her mother passed. I pray she's OK. Lovely times to hear about with your friends. Love the '75 cars~classics.
Love n' hugs from afar. It's a gloomy Palm Sunday here but Easter will be full of sunshine and promise again.
Glad you had a good time seeing old friends. It is good when some of our
friends are still around. I am thankful I have friends that we met
when we lived here in the 50's.
Just received a cheque for over $500.
Many times people don't believe me when I tell them about how much money you can get by taking paid surveys online...
So I show them a video of myself actually getting paid over $500 for participating in paid surveys.
