It is Monday, time for Belmont friends to meet at Hardees

Gas Stations of History:

I have lots of pics of gas stations, I like the ones with cars of the day.

For Monday’s stuff:

BTW, after I sorta fussed about our visiting singer in yesterday’s blog,  I did enjoy the special guest at our church Sunday. Mr Turner who was once a member of the Gospel Group called “The Blackwood Brothers”. I think I heard him say he was 79 yrs old. He was an engaging speaker as well as a singer.

After church we had dinner with Jack Jr here at the house with carry out from BoJangles.

We then continued our task of laying 700 sqft of flooring. We have now completed 200 sq ft of the job and it looks good. Will include pictures next I hope.

This house is one that was going to be a NC retirement home. It is set up good and we installed an RV port here. There is a studio apartment we built for Luke to live in while attending college. Anyway over the past few years we have decided to sell it to our Granddaughter Sherece at a good price for her. She is a single mom, the father of her daughter passed away and she lives there with her daughter Stella.

We are trying to get it trouble free for her. She works in Import/Export and had been hired at a new job when the Pandemic hit. They have held the position for her until next week when they will start training her for  their company next week.

They took off to the beach to get a vacation before starting.

Sherry and I are doing a pretty good job after getting used to this Matrix flooring.

Sherry will be headed for Hardees to meet with some life long friends. She will drop me off at work to start tidying up and readying the work area for more flooring after her visit. She loves this time, and I am glad for her.

Truthfully, I am a loner. I enjoy working alone, BUT this has been an exception, it has been fun with Sherry and she is not the helper type, she likes to do, not help. This job she has been a great asset. Right there with a new piece of flooring or a marker for marking my next cut. At this age, I would have wasted 4 hours already, just looking for my pencil or tools. LOL

How sweet that Sherece's company held the job for her! And sweeter that you and Sherry are helping her to get into a house. You sounded like you had a great Sunday Jack, and something to look forward to today with continuing the work of the tile!

You have made your families life so much better by providing places for them to I've. There is never a dull moment, if you are not working on you house, you are working on someone else's. That's a lot of flooring and no small job, so happy Sherry can help you out. I know she loves to get together with her friends, not all of us are fortunate enough to have a group like that that goes back so many years. Glad she took advantage of it nd left you on your own. A little rest will make the work ahead better. Looking forward to the pictures.

I remember hearing about the Blackwood Brothers gospel group! How neat you were able to meet Mr. Turner!
I sure remember when you were creating that little studio space for Luke. And soon, another chapter begins. So glad you and Sherry are making this happen for Sherece - particularly given the disappointment about the new build. Please just take it easy!

I'm a loner too. I am sociable, extrovert, etc. But I enjoy time alone. And quiet. Gives me time to think and to write.

I remember the Blackwood Brothers. I think they may have visited the church where I attended as a child.

Sounds like you two are sprucing up the place for Sherece and I'm sure she appreciates it. Working on our knees is one of the hardest things for us as it's just getting harder to get up once we're down. Today we worked together on stripping layers of paint off the antique icebox. It's taking longer than we thought but it's going to be so worth it. Love that you two are still able to do all you do together. God is a good, isn't He.
loven'hugs from up in our northern WI where it's hot all day but cools off in the evening. Look to the west under the Big Dipper to see the comet that won't appear again for over 6000 yrs. We should be able to see it with the naked eye plus it's tail....now to get up around 3:30- 4:00 in the morning. Hmmmmmmmmmm

Can’t wait to see the new flooring. I bet it looks great. Nick likes to work alone too. I think I’m a pretty good helper though. I’m usually holding a flashlight or something.
I think it’s great how Sherry still meets up with friends.
