On the Road

Car of the day:

I wonder sometimes if we had married in 1920 would we have lived like these folk!

For today:

As you read this we should be on the road to NC (leaving early Fri. AM).  Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are keeping this trip road mighty warm.  It seems we are making this 1100 mile trip monthly lately.

But we are able to fit in our normal are Drs. Appts in between also.

I prefer to drive this 36 ft motor home and tow our auto than just take the Automobile. Most folks cannot believe that this coach is easier to drive than a car, but to me it is.

Our trip to Pennsylvania has been postponed or called off due to other requirements.  I do hope we can get it rescheduled for later in the summer.  By this time next month, we had hoped to see our friends in the Dutch country of PA.

I don’t mean this as a complaint, I love being on the road. I used to think I would be a truck driver, many in my family were.

Sherry & I even thought of driving as a pair.  We met moving van drivers that had established a life like that. Say moving someone to Birmingham and then taking a family from Birmingham to Washington state and so on.  Just wherever the job took them.  The last time we saw them was on our move to Key West.  They had been on the road for 9 months and if they could not get a load back to their hometown they were just going to ‘deadhead’ (Their term for driving an empty rig) back.

Of course, we never became truck drivers. This is the closest we ever came to doing that free spirit life. I look over at my girl as I drive and say, “We are the most blessed couple in the world.”

She agrees.

PS: (Of course we all know I am the blessed or lucky one!)

I shot this picture of an old conversion morothome somewhere in VT or NH. I loved the thought of buying that to fix up!  LOL

It takes courage to drive such big vehicles. Well done, Jack.

God bless always my friends.

One of Tom's dearest friends is a former OTR trucker -- whose wife was, too. That's how they met! Years ago, I used to think that would be an enjoyable vocation -- before I got old. Nowadays, like yesterday driving I65 up to Birmingham, I probably left my fingerprints on the steering wheel. These road warriors are crazy!

Wishing y'all travel mercies and sunny skies!

One thing good about you and Sherri is that you all are flexible - I think that is great. Have fun in NC.

This morning I wrote an extensive reply to your post today. Then messed up the publishing part and lost it all. "If you were still preaching you'd say that it wasn't supposed to be said". Life is tough for me right now, but I'm a stubborn Conrad Gurl and I'll be back on top before long. Too many men hit on me on Facebook and it drives me crazy. I've initiated the practice of sending a note saying "Thank you for the friend's request, however, I do not accept requests from people I don't know." For the past week, did quite a few of those and have eliminated a lot of nuisance.
And, after a brief respite, the termites came back a couple of days ago. They were crawling all over my white satin comforter from Aunt IrmaNee. I slept on the couch, but not a deep sleep, constant nightmare dreaming, very unusual. My brothers were right, I should never have bought this monster....
But, on the other hand, I might win the lotto, there's a shot at that, if I'd buy a ticket! Then I could have the whole place tented... I do have a couple of suitors. One is admirable, a retired Army Major General who is killing the Taliban in Yemen. Interesting situation, he volunteered after breakup of a marriage. Asked for my hand in marriage, umm He says I'm bossy, but he is, so there. N E way, we'll see? One of the things I want to remind y'all is when you come back to FL, I want a hug. Lots of Love from Chobee. Glenda
