So for today:
People in different areas of our country have many
different traits and personalities. I enjoy speaking with folks who have a
definite brogue or accent. In our country Southern folks have a drawl or used
to more than now. I always smiled when folks from Mass had a rough time saying
Summer, it came out as Summa. They seemed to lose the ‘r’. Then when Pres. JFK was taking about Cuba it
came out Cuber, he found the ‘r’.
The next is changing some, but down south we have a rough
time just speaking or stating facts. Meaning
Southern families’ tendency, when someone asks: “Can I come over for a few minutes visit?” NO MATTER
IF THE FAMILY IS arguing OR someone has RUNNY BOWELS! The answer most of the
time is : “GREAT COME ON
OVER!”
Then the rush begins, straightening the house, trying to find cookies or
getting coffee ready, and nearly having a stroke. ……………. It seems impossible for the family member to simply state,
‘now is not a good time, what about tomorrow?’
In our travels I met a wonderful lady dentist in Ciudad
Acuna, Mex, just across the river from Del Rio. She did a marvelous job at a
great price. A year or so later I needed some work done and we made an appointment.
She was Mex/American lived in DelRio but practiced across the river.
I commented on her new hair style, it was short. She did the work but
after she finished installing the last upper molar cap. She took time to explain I was her first appt
after Cancer treatment and she should not have done the work, she said she was
not strong enough to install the cap properly and I would probably need to use
a water pick along with brushing. I am so sorry. The mistake was mine.
She was right. But I have always appreciated her honesty, still do. I
realized later, Yes, her hair style was different, Sherry said it was just
growing back.
Dr. Aide Talamantez completed my first sessions for $750,
a dentist in Florida had given me the price of thousands of $..
