Friday… Things that tickle your fancy 2

 Picture of the day:

Now for today’s stuff:

Sherry doesn't have a ‘Home Place’ to remember. The ‘Mill Hills’ where Sherry was raised, are gone. One is now the home of several medical services, Sherry’s Doctor practices in one of the complexes.

The other is now an up scale community where the value of one home would have bought most, if not all the mill houses that existed there.

Of course my Great Grandpa Hilly kept his place near Toccoa GA until he passed, but that faded over the years.

But, there is a home place. Son Mark & Corrine bought a large track of land in Belmont. They raised their daughter and sons there. Eventually building a very nice home. Sadly they divorced and Mark sold the newer home. But held the rest of the property.

SOOO, the old home is still there. Mark’s oldest son and wife, Matthew and Kiersten are raising their family there.

Maverick and Jack Wiley Now these boys and soon the daughter, Dillon, are                                 running the same trails their dad did in his youth.

Matthew and Kiersten, oh yes, Kiersten gave birth to Dillon in a tub of water at home. I had never heard of such! Unique to our family!

The kids are in the city and it is like being in the country.

Baby Dillon at one day old.

The latest Great grand is a sweet girl. She is a doll and her BIG BROTHERS love that little girl to pieces.

PS: These are things that tickle my heart!

PS2   To family stuff:  WE sent Jack W a birthday card and gift he never got it. While doing this blog, I thought about that and sent Mr. Jack Wiley a letter. I think he will enjoy it...

Jack-It is so wonderful to know that family continues on in places we know and love. That baby is absolutely adorable and so are the 'big boys'. I am like Sherry- my old home spot is gone (in some ways). The barn (the back wall was stacked stone and when it was being built they got news that Lincoln had beens hot) was taken down by my brother in the 1990s and the old farmhouse burned to the ground a few years later. He sold all the farm (467 acres) as parcels to other farmers. I was supposed to get a parcel up on the hill by the chapel but he died before he could deed it to me and his widow sold everything outright and moved on with her life in less than 6 months. Such is life, right? I hope to get back this summer with my youngest son so he can see the old home place area. Hugs- Diana

We used to call my grandparents farm, home, and it is still there but now owned by one of my cousins. I would like to think I would be welcome there. The original house is gone but the barn, the hills and the swinging bridge is still there.

I am not really sure I have a home spot. We moved quite a bit at first.
Your baby granddaughter and her brothers are precious!

Wonderful photos. You have a lovely family. How blessed you are to see then, hug the boys, and hold baby Dillon. My family home is also gone along with the barn. Both were built in about 1880s, I think. It was time for them be demolished and a new house in its place. Sad.

Save in my memories, I've no longer a 'home place.' It does my old heart good to hear your grandson and his family are keeping the Darnell vibes alive inside that brick and mortar!

The house I grew up in is still there but looks NOTHING like it did. They must have doubled the size!!!
