Work and Exercise

Trucks of Art
An old Packard delivery van, sorta looks like a hearse!

Now:
I wired the Honda CR-V for towing. It took me too long. But I came in that night and informed my girl I could still do a day’s work, it just takes a day and a half or two days to do it. LOL

My girl can set a schedule and stick to it. I am pretty halfhearted at that, I admit it.  I ‘plan’ to exercise regularly but I do not exercise every night. I have gone weeks in between.  This time I am doing pretty well, I think I have been 7 days straight. LOL.

It is not an in depth program. I combine physical exercise (squats, toe touching and pushups) with some good yoga stretching exercising. I like the discipline yoga brings to the body. I was asked once about the ‘spiritual’ side of Yoga. I had to answer I have no idea what that really means, I do know however that by going thru some of the simple muscle stretches I am more flexible, and that is important at 80 years of age.

Once Sherry did yoga exercises and I followed. I do not remember the names of all the positions.  But this is The Child.. (I do it well, LOL)

This is the Forward Seat. Her hands wrap her feet. I can reach to just below my knees. (true, but I am trying)  ;-)

The Plow is another I do.  Toes touching the floor.

But I get just about ABOUT this far.  LOL

Looking up at your legs with the ‘hanging skin’ of an 80 year old (That used to be muscle) is not for the faint hearted. ;-O

My short time is about 20-25 minutes divided about 50/50 with physical exercise and stretching. I have already lost one upper arm muscle and ligament that I blame on a prescribed statin. I QUIT and lowered my cholesterol with my diet, after the loss of that muscle. Normally we walk 2-3 miles a day but lately that has waned.  Too cool!

Knife fight

Trucks of Art
   Antique Gasoline delivering truck...

Today:
Something I have put off since last year. The ‘deep skin cancer’ has been ‘cut out’ I think.  I say ‘I think’, because all my friends who have had this done say their doctor cuts some out and has a biopsy done. And then according to the results cuts more or sews it up. This doctor must be sure, because he closed with stitches and said I will see you in 10 days to report and remove the stiches.
This scar will be good. It is gonna look like I lost a knife fight. Bragging rights with the old people.  LOL

Now I have a few questions in my mind. At the top of the list is, “Did he use a scalpel or pliers?” Nothing hurt, but I could feel him pulling (like pulled pork). He doesn’t have a good sense of humor or I would have offered him my pocket knife.  But honestly it did feel like he was cutting with a dull knife and pulling with pliers. LOL  As I said it never hurt, I could just feel the tugging.
He cut without removing my Cochlear devices.

I truly do not plan on making this a habit. I have learned some things while ‘waiting’ on this surgery. A couple friends actually have a full body search once a year. Searching for things that appear to be ‘skin cancer’ or what ‘might’ turn into a skin cancer. Then they schedule times to ‘remove’ the culprits.

I am not so stubborn as to ignore my health. I will have something taken care of that ‘worries’ me, however I do not plan to look for things to fix that as far as I can tell are not broken. I keep saying I am 80. I do want to live to 100+ if my health is good.

Unrelated, but something I thoroughly enjoyed yesterday. Taryterre (http://taryterre.blogspot.com/2019/04/kindness-of-strangers.html) She hasn’t posted as much as she has in the past, but this entry was absolutely GOOD, possibly a miracle. YES, there are good people in this world.

Then there is https://thenanadiana.blogspot.com/2019/04/bringing-almost-dead-geranium-back-to.html
Read it at your own pearl if you do not believe in miracles. I did get my feeling hurt, but I will get over it. ;-)

Zoning..

Trucks of Art:
An old GM cargo truck, they used sex to sell back then! ;-)
But for today:
At present there has been no decision from zoning on the building lot. There is a lot of history on this land. I purchased it and an abandoned state road, when a developer’s plans fell through for apartments. My small company built 5 homes here, two are actually large condos. In the process of course I closed the road.

Any ‘city rule’ has exceptions. The head of zoning says my lot must face a public street. In his opinion I would need to reopen the street. I protested by my facial expression I am sure. He continued it would be public access but privately maintained…………, UH OH! My mind going back many years. Back to my plans for a subdivision I hoped to do here in town. After many, many thousands of $$ the straw that killed it was the city council wanting a lot for a public park, privately maintained, until they would later agree to take over. My question was, ‘When some kid gets hurt there, who is responsible?’ Quick answer, ‘You are.”  My FINAL answer was, “Gentlemen, I am out of here.” I still have all the engineering and survey’s somewhere. LOL

(WE have two driveways to our house.) So a couple days ago I submitted a short letter offering to deed one of them, to the new lot giving access to a neighboring street. I haven’t heard back yet.

Understand that so far this has cost nothing and no agreement is binding because I haven’t even started to jump thru the official hoops yet. This lot is ¾ acre with the city rules now I could build 3 homes on it, I just want one.  LOL

As I said there are exceptions to most rules, especially this one of facing a public street and I gave him two Local examples within a ½ mile of here.

So far it is just two friends ‘old acquaintances’ trying to come to an understanding.

PS: Stormy came by about 3 PM and very unusual for her, she walked into the garage where I was working and announced she was ready for food.   We had a good visit,  I missed her destination again. She ate our KFC scraps plus food and milk.
