There was a time when I thought that Doctors and law enforcement officers were near sacred. Their word was LAW, because your best interests were at the heart of the matter. What happened? Money, greed, government programs I am not sure.
I received a ticket when I wasn't speeding once. Mark was in the car. What hurt most was hearing my son say, "See Dad they aren't always right!
Sonny is in on dialysis. A few years ago surgeons removed the other kidney that was ‘filled with malignancy’. He got a second opinion before it was removed. Yes definitely cancer.
When removed it was a good kidney,IT WAS NOT CANCEROUS. Honest mistake? Could be, that is what I want to believe.. It could be he was near 70 and just another old man. Now the question comes up, would he be better off now and no dialysis? No one knows, but his Dr. said it is very possible that both kidneys would be in bad shape. In all honesty what else could he say? He was not the one who removed the good kidney. But he remembered Colette, Sonny’s wife reading HIM the riot act after the operation.
Don't get me wrong, I know there are more great policemen out there than bad. Or we would be in deep dodo. I have very good friends. One inCharlotte I have known since we was a child. Love the guy. And if I am in trouble, I would love to see BLUE! Shoot, even Woody, up the road, I would bet was a good guy. And Doctors? yeah I'll admit they keep us old folk alive. So why am I bitching? Shucks I don't know.
Anyway, I still want to believe lawmen and Doctors, but now there is doubt where I had little before. My experience and my opinion.
Thanks for reading the log.

PS: *_The Twenty and the One _*
A well-worn one-dollar bill and a similarly distressed twenty-dollar bill arrived at a Federal Reserve Bank to be retired. As they moved along the conveyor belt to be burned, they struck up a conversation. The twenty-dollar bill reminisced about its travels all over the country.
"I've had a pretty good life," the twenty proclaimed. "Why I've been to Las Vegas and Atlantic City , the finest restaurants in New York , performances on Broadway, and even a cruise to the Caribbean "
"Wow!" said the one-dollar bill. "You've really had an exciting life!"
"So tell me," says the twenty, "where have you been throughout your lifetime?"
The one dollar bill replies, "Oh, I've been to the Catholic Church, Methodist Church , the Baptist Church , the Lutheran Church .
"The twenty-dollar bill interrupts, "What's a church?"

Good post Jack, I bitch about it too because as a citizen, I feel you have to have a certain amount of trust in certain professionals that basically deal in life an death. I was reading a friend's blog post today that shocked me. She picked up some cough medicine (with codeine) for her infant boy, and the label said 1 1/4 tsp a day...well, it was a TYPO, it should have read 1/4 tsp a day...thank gawd she questioned it. In my experience, we are vulnerable in some circumstances and we need those particular professionals to be near-perfect. I was scared one night (after the creepy neighbour incident) because there was some vandalism to my car, so I called the cops, well the guy firstly refused to talk to me in English, then secondly inferred that maybe I'd been drinking...ridiculous, I was freaked out and I needed them to make sure their was no foul play and I was treated like a lunatic!
Sorry for the soapbox, I guess your post hit a nerve with me today!!!

You came up with a double entry, but I have to comment on this. You know in your heart that you feel the Dr's did misdiagnose Sonny on the first kidney. and It leaves a bitter taste in your mouth when You want to believe that Dr's and cops are honest. Been there and done that. I got fined 100.00, first ticket I ever got and that was about 5 years ago. I was pulling out of a Library and I was at a dead stop before looking and not seeing anyone coming, pulling out. I immediatly heard a siren and a cop was right behind me. I asked him where he came from. He made a turn on a turn signal and I will believe he hurried so he could catch me. I was not wearing a seat belt and failure to yield right of way. No tickets in all the years of driving and I get slapped with a 100.00 fine before I was barely in the street. He was very young. I paid the fine and still feel I was singled out. Sorry I used so much of your space.
Good entry, I'm sure a lot of people have horror stories concerning both Doctors and law enforcement. Take care, Sheila
I have heard of so many people tell about the wrong part removed in an operation. How about when a person is in the operating room read his chart and see if is the left or the right that
needs removing. How simple is that.

Hard to believe in the higher ups anymore. Mel had a bad stroke at age 45. He was diagnosed for a week that it was an inner ear infection.
