Wedding and the Heat!

We left the mountains and came back to Belmont to prepare for the Wedding. Yep, coming up this Saturday July 10th. We have a wedding and a reception. Josh and Britany will be married after courting all their lives. Well not quite, but for a long time.

Things are much different for them than for us. He graduated Summa Cum laude from HS and a UNCC Graduate of Magna Cum Laude. He has a good job with some travel. Brit finished two years at UNCC.

I was 17, a HS dropout and a PFC in the USMC, Sherry was working in a hosiery Mill here in Belmont. By rights our marriage was doomed to fail. But we stuck it out, thanks to Sherry.

The two love birds, Brit and Josh, seem to love each other very much. I am putting a lot of faith in that love and hoping they go against the present day odds and stay married over a half century. Most of us know from experience and observation that debts and finances are two of the quickest marriage killers. Our advice is always, without exception, live debt free. YES it is possible. If you can learn to live within your means and never spend more than you make. You just have to control your WANTS!

(Is it hot where you are?)

(Try this!)

Our nation is in a great crisis, many folk who did not ask to suffer, paid their taxes and worked, are now unemployed, using up savings and suffering. All because of politicians (all parties) that cannot understand simple mathematics. YOU CANNOT SPEND A HUNDRED DOLLARS IF YOU ONLY HAVE FIFTY. There is NEVER a free lunch, someone pays for it.

So if Josh and Brit will Love each other and stay out of debt, in all probability our great grand children will have the same mother and father throughout their life, and will enjoy living.

I am known for great advice! Hahahahahahahaha. Evidently I missed all the calls from Bush and Obama calling me about the budget. So this recession may be mine. Sorry!

Thanks for coming by the log,
NIte Shipslog
PS:
Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

May life and time treat them always kind. With temperature close to 100F surely an alluring sight indeed, with inflation at about six per cent, surely needed. Please have you all a great Thursday.

Good advice on the finances. After years of observation from a Pastor's point of view - I've come to the conclusion that the major causes of divorce are: 1. Finance 2. Romance and 3. Religion.

So you are the one that our Country is in such
debt. I can't understand why they did not consult with you. I will see about getting you an
audience with the President to discuss the debt.

I guess I am ready for the big event. Sure is different in today's world.

debt.

how exciting that the wedding is coming up so very soon Jack! I wish Britany and Josh much happiness. I remember when you wrote about them getting engaged. I think if they have their priorities right and put God first, then the other spouse and finally themselves, they have a good chance of succeeding in this thing called marriage.

best advice my pastor gave (and he got it from somewhere else but I'm not sure where now) is to learn to live on 8.00 dollars of every 10 you get; save a dollar, and give a dollar. If they learn to wait and pay cash instead of have to have it now like our society endorses and if they are content with what they have, not trying to have it all without the means to pay for it, they will do great.

hope all enjoy themselves celebrating with the special couple!

Congrats to the future success of the newlyweds. Surely they will listen to the advise of such wisdom. We have always told our kids what their Grandfather always said, "If you cannot pay for it, you don't need it yet." Earn it and keep your pride strong.

You're so right about the importance of knowing the difference between "want" and "need".

Maybe we should start sending our congressmen lists of what we're willing to give up, like keeping our bodies alive way after our useful life spans have expired -- if they give up something comparable.
