Papa, Oh my!

OH, MY PA-PA
Eddie Fisher
Oh, my pa-pa, to me he was so wonderful
Oh, my pa-pa, to me he was so good
No one could be, so gentle and so lovable
Oh, my pa-pa, he always understood.

(Dad and Dad with the youngest and oldest Grandsons)

Gone are the days when he could take me on his knee
And with a smile he'd change my tears to laughter
Oh, my pa-pa, so funny, so adorable
Always the clown so funny in his way
Oh, my pa-pa, to me he was so wonderful
Deep in my heart I miss him so today.
Gone are the days when he could take me on his knee
And with a smile he'd change my tears to laughter

(Dad’s favorite place, the pulpit)

Do you remember it? I got that on my mind and was whistling it. I could never get the words right, even though it is short. So I looked them up. I loves the words. Maybe it is because more songs are written about mothers, and rightly so, but this one is for Papa.

I took some time to read some of the comments where I found this, they were all so touching and sweet. Wives remembering husbands. Girls and boys remembering dad, So I took a little time to reflect on my dad:

Oh, my pa-pa, to me he was so wonderful
Oh, my pa-pa, to me he was so good
No one could be, so gentle and so lovable
Oh, my pa-pa, he always understood.

Yep, I know he said did not have all the answers, but it seems so now.

That is all for tonight, Love your dad, he won’t be around always.

Very good pictures of Family. Wiley always
did look young. Dr. T. talked about Dad tonight.
and told everybody to show me appreciation they
still had a Darnell there.

You are right you will not alway have your Dad
or Mother around. Try telling us that when we were young. Oh the good old days.

Great pictures. I hope you are staying warm. Shirl and I will stop snow dancing until you make it further south. Praying Johnny continues to improve. Take care, Sheila

What wonderful memories and pictures you have in your post today. It's a little warmer here so I'm hoping it is there for you all too. I'm still praying and God will do the rest. LOLAH!

Nice pictures of your dads. Both good looking men. It was in the 80's here in Alabama today. I'm still saying a prayer for Johnny and hope he will continue to get well.

Our dads and moms are always around in us and our offspring. This can be a blessing, a bugaboo, or both.

Loved the pictures. By the time I was born my dad was 65 and he was worn out so he let everyone else do for me, but I knew he loved me.

What great memories you have in your pictures and hearts. I would have loved to meet all of your parents. They did something so right with the two of you. Love continues., doesn't it. I miss my Daddy so much these past 3+ years. Sometimes when I step into the house, I see him sitting at the table playing cards with Mom and Eric, reading or eating Mom's good cookin', as he called it. I still feel his soft whiskers and feel his gentle hands.
As for those sweets, Dad would have made a special trip across the river, for Apple Crisp of any kind.
Thanks for the sweet memories, Jack.
My prayers are with Johnny for continued health. Each day promises yet more strength.
