Eating watermelon and stored pictures

Shirl has a neat wild area where she has planted Watermelon, cantaloupe, and collards. She gave me a small melon a couple days ago, I just cut it and ate half. When I eat watermelon there is no red left. I think God wants us to eat the red stuff and most of the seeds. Laughing out loudI think I spit about five seeds, ate the rest, I call it roughage. I think Sherry thinks I am too lazy to cull them.

Summer fruit and vegetables are so nice, I hate to see that part of summer go. But it is time to get this bus ready to roll, headed south. I had planned to get all our pictures from the storage trailer out in the middle of the woods, so I finally got around to it. Now our life in pictures is in one of the storage building here. They will not be as subject to mold and mildew here.

I dare anyone to try to move their old picture albums without looking at some. What a joy to see the old pictures. Now some are not as much fun because there were pictures of members of our family who are no longer members, you that are familiar with divorce know what I am saying. Daughters in law who are no longer with us. Pictures of ‘whole’ happy families. Not so happy anymore.

I have read advice, I have asked advice and I have searched for advice. NOTHING nor NOBODY has a good answer for how to handle the situation when a family member throws their life away.

It is a well established person who can accept the fact that someone close is destroying themselves, and KNOW there is nothing they can do. We are the pilot of our ship, no one else can pilot it.

Life? Sometimes it is vexing. But no matter how you look at it, in the end, LIFE IS GOOD, to quote the BR boomer.http://brboomer.blogspot.com/

Take care and thanks for coming by the Log.

Thanks Jack, for adding smiles to my day---you have a gift. Love the traveling church, did that come out of your boxes of old photos???
You guys get on down to Florida, it's cooling off a bit, only 89 degrees today!

Wonder how many people fit into the traveling church? You know we need to know, you and I being "counters". I get to count alot now with all the oil boom going on. How many trucks in the parking lot at Wal*Mart? There were eleven Saturday. It amazes me how they line them up all neat at the edge where it doesn't interfer with the shoppers as much. Isn't counting fun?

That's the thing about life, we can only live our own.

As you well know Jack, in my 81 years I still have a hard time dealing with things that happen beyond my control. That is a lot, but finally you have to come to terms that their is nothing any one can do. So you are are ready to move on?? I hope you enjoyed your watermelon. Sounds good.

There have been many things in my life that have just been very hard to accept but I've learned to let go of them. It isn't that we don't care. You are right we each have to pilot our own ships. Remember the serenity prayer. I know you must be anxious to be off to Florida. Have a safe trip!

I have three more watermelons in my natural
area. I can't believe how well they did in
that location. You know I did't mean to plant
watermelon I was trying to replace a cantaloupe
plant and found out it was watermelon. I think
that is all I will plant next year. I may not plant tomatoes took to much time watering because it got so hot. But I say that every year.

Lots of people can be smooth & glib when they tell you how others lives should have turned out..or what you, they, everyone, SHOULD have done, but really each of us can only live, or fix, our own. ~Mary

I like the traveling church! Too cute!! So getting ready to head south? It can't be that time already! It is fun to look at old pictures and make sure you mark those old pictures so family members know who the people might be years down the road, LOL.

It is hard to see someone make poor choices and do things that are counterproductive in their lives; sometimes you just have to look the other way, pray and trust God.

Fresh fruit and veggies rock! Never get tired of them!

We have tons of old photos that we didn't label. Years from now, nobody will know who we are. It is sad to see summer go. I had a fruit cup this afternoon, thinking the same thing. Love that traveling church.

Love the picture of the mobile church! Just open the tailgate and put the lectern there. Play a little music over the victrola to attract the crouds - then preach your heart out!

I love the watermelon too - but maybe not as much as you. I have to spit out those seeds!!! ☻
