Day Trip to Daytona

Great day, we always love to go to Daytona. I forgot about the Inter coastal water way, we had to cross it first.

DAYTONATRIP2 001

Then we had this commercial, from the Geico Geeko… (Actual shot of our windshield)

DAYTONATRIP2 002 - Copy

I think the wind was messing him up, sounded like AWFLACK (or something like that.)

DAYTONATRIP2 004

Just below the car wheels ahead, is the ocean.

DAYTONATRIP2 008

We both love the sound and smell of the ocean, it is beautiful on this day, but the beach is the worst I have ever seen it. Loaded with seaweed.

DAYTONATRIP2 009

DAYTONATRIP2 015

Lot of company on the beach, bird wise.

Notice the salt water spray, also Jimmy was on the beach(I thought is this Miami B.?)!

Scenes on the beach, note the humungous amount of seaweed. And the Salt haze in the distance.

Then we did see some  Wisconsin folk here.

A shrimper in the distance.

Condo’s and hotels line the beach drive. You can drive about 6 miles. Tide was in this time so the road was closer to the sea wall.

DAYTONATRIP2 050

Facts of the Aquatic world, this young sea turtle did not survive. But will feed others.

Thanks for going with us on our drive. It is a nice drive along the beach at 5-10 mph with the windows open to smell the salt air.

We walked about 3 miles on the beach, it is not crowded yet.

PS:

CHILDREN'S SERMON
ONE EASTER SUNDAY MORNING AS THE MINISTER WAS PREACHING THE CHILDREN'S SERMON, HE REACHED INTO HIS BAG OF PROPS AND PULLED OUT AN EGG. HE POINTED AT THE EGG AND ASKED THE CHILDREN, "WHAT'S IN HERE?" "I KNOW!" A LITTLE BOY EXCLAIMED. "PANTYHOSE !! "

*********************************************

My first time on Daytona beach, I drove a brand new 1955 Chevrolet V8, too fast on the sand at night. Very very stupid, but it was deserted, full moon and nothing as far as you could see. In 1955

1955 Chevy

Now, you must be off the beach by sundown or 7PM, but back then you could sleep in your car on the beach, which is what we did.

You just don't know how I loved your trip to the beach. The pictures were wonderful and I could almost taste the salt in the air. I really did need a trip to the beach today! It's another dreary one but not too cold at 53 degrees here right now.

It was almost - I said ALMOST like being there. We had more snowflakes fall this morning but they only lasted a few minutes. Do enjoy the sand between your toes and that sea breeze!

I know you had a good walk smelling the salt
water and listening to the sound of the waves.
I have never seen that much sea weed on a
beach. Could it be used for mulch if so bring some home.

Shoulda known you would think of some landscapping ideas. hahahaha.
Love ya!

Also the mispelling was intentional on the lizard. LOL If you don't hit what you were aiming at, call what you hit the target.

LOVE your little friend. I've seen grasshoppers hanging on for dear life, but never a Gecko. Loved The Inter Coastal Water Way. My husband's aunt lived down there and when she passed, we came down to close up shop, selling off everything and burying her at sea. She had a condo overlooking the water and beach. We never wanted to leave, it was so beautiful. LOVED your photos. Glad you had a wonderful day. Back east where I came from the beach is still open all hours of the day and night to anyone that wants to be there. Take care.

... the Wisconsin folks... fat, white(as in lacking a tan) and well-insulated.... now you know why i live WAY UP NORTH!:) ... actually it's because I'm frozen to the ground and can't leave. You crack me up Jack! I wish you would have gotten a shot of Sherry's face "meeting Jimmy" on the beach.

Great pictures. I almost felt like I could smell the water. Leave it ti Shirl to find a good deal on mulching She is a ground lover from her garden she grows and her yard. Poor little geko???" How do you spell it?

Wonderful to read your comments and pretend I'm not here prepping for the surgery on Friday! I've seen the beaches in Kenya covered with seaweed like that. The hotels hired boys to dig trenches in the sand and then rake the seaweed in and bury it. Tourists liked the sand better than the weed. It seemed that at certain seasons of the year it was worse than others. You gonna take the Charles Atlas course? So you can handle that bully on the beach?

How funny with the gecko on your windshield! That must have been a sight to see! Talking about sights, that man on the beach with the tan and not the best of bikini bodies, too funny! Enjoyed the rest of the pictures though with the ocean and beach; interesting so much sea weed though!

Looks like a wonderful place to take a day trip to and to get to walk on the beach for those three miles! Great exercise!

Love the pics, love the beach, love the tan lines, lol. Love the story about spending the night in a '55 Chevy on the beach.
I'm sure the seaweed would be a very nutritious mulch, but you would want to wash all the salt off before using in your yard or garden.

The 2 of you always look better than the shots of the other people along your travels. I think that is on purpose(no, actually, I think it is because you both look very good...).
