If you could travel to anyplace in the world……

Where would you go? What would you want to do?

Our options are not world wide,  we areScanoldpic9 039  limited. However, right now, there are places that have hit the bottom of the list due to political and religious unrest. The only place in the Eastern Mediterranean I would like to go again is Athens . I would like to walk up the Acropolis and sit with Sherry as she sees the Parthenon, then over to the amphitheater. Of course there are so much there to see.  I am sure she would love to travel across to Corinth. We now have two friends who live in Athens, the new one, Robert, and the OLD one, Tommy C, from Belmont, NC.

But we do hope to visit England and Ireland.

I want to return to Alaska via the ALCAN again. OH YES,We must go back to San Antonio, the Alamo means so much to me.  Of course the River Walk is tops.

There is a magnet in Utah, that seems to draw us there.  Surely ONE MORE TIME!!!

We gotta see ‘the real Jack Darnell’ again over in Coker Creek. While there will have to see Fred and George C.  Maybe our friend Smoky Woods.

We will see the North East again ( if we live), and eat some Lobsta.

When there is nothing else to do, I plan a trip!!!

So, where would you like to go?

Thanks for coming by the Log.

PS:  I just read this today, do you think that is true?

The roar that we hear when we place a seashell next to our ear is not the ocean, but rather the sound of blood surging through the veins in the ear.

I thought the ocean was in there. Or at least the wind echoing there.

Ah ha, Six big ones on this truck. This must be early 1950’s, could be Packard's.

Corfu is “THE PLACE”   …

I have dreamed of taking my Sherry to the Greek Island of Corfu, A beautiful place.

Boy the wind whistled here last night. Since I'm not a traveler I would like to just spend a week going down country roads. Maybe could find some a little farther away that we haven't been down. I've had the chance to go to England, Germany, and Alaska and I didn't go. I'm kin to my Daddy. He died having never gone out of Texas and not far from Atascosa and Bexar county.

My very favorite place to be would be on some sunny beach with the gentle breezes blowing and the sun shining! I don't get to many beaches, but love them. Tomorrow I'm going to travel over to the western part of our fair state and celebrate a 2nd birthday. That sound pretty good too! You have fun planning your next trip!

I'm pretty sure that's the ocean in that shell ;-) I want to see Florida...me and the Baronster! There's a Dachshund Walk (parade your dachshund) in Key West Florida the 31st of each year...we will be there (with cameras) this year! And there's St Augustine...haven't seen the Atlantic in what seems like forever! And hey I'd just like to get myself in gear and drive 10 minutes to visit Tarpon Springs! And maybe even a cruise to Bermuda, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico (have a super artist friend in PR, I'd love to met her in person) or Jamaica OR all of the above (have to save my bucks though)!

My husband would love to travel to see Austria and Russia. That is where his family came from. My family comes from Ireland. However with all the world's unrest... a cottage by a lake anywhere in these United States would do my soul good. ENJOY your planning. Hope you get to go wherever your heart leads. Take care.

I would love to go to Hawaii and I would also love to see the Alamo. Steve and I were just talking about that. Thanks for the sweet pictures. I had never seen that one of Mom and Dad.

Jack I will take the beach. I think
it is only 200 miles or may the
mountains. Two places I enjoy,
I have traveled enough in the past
to satisfy the traveling bug. I liked Las Vegas and Hawaii.
I will just hold the fort down.

I don't have any plans. Lol. I'll just stay close to home. We have children in Texas, Georgia, and North Carolina we have been to Texas way back. Never been to visit the Georgia Children, but we have been to Atlanta some years back before my son married and he has been married to wife number two now 15 years. We flew to Kansas once to visit Sheila and we drove out a couple of times. Florida we might go down to the beaches in Destin or Panama City this summer for a few days. Sorry I didn't mean to write a book. Take care. Jean

Maybe Austrailia or New Zealand. Maybe Hong Kong if my grand daughter decides to get her Masters over there. Honestly, I just love to travel and am stuck at home! Also It's hard to travel by yourself, I would want a companion. I would love to spend a month in England in the Cotwalds or a month in southern Ireland. In the US, I have yet to see the Washington and Oregon area, much less Alaska or Hawaii. So I dream and read travel books and blogs!

Yes! Those are Packards! The one over the cab of the truck is a Custom Super Eight, the top of the line at the time. These are late-'49 or 1950 models. The Packards got a mid-year face lift in 1949 in honor of the company's 50th anniversary and these are "anniversary" cars, which carried over into 1950. In 1951, the "bathtub" body style you see here was replaced by stylist John Rinehart's superb new design. The sad thing is that Rinehart's design was ready to go into production as the Anniversary model, but Packard president George Christopher wouldn't put it into production. It hurt Packard and helped motivate the Packard board to "broom" Christopher, something they should have done much sooner....
