Sweet, sour or salty?

TerrificMA28841717-0029

Come snack time, what do you prefer?

Standing in the aisle at the check-out register, WHICH of the impulse items do you reach for, or want to reach for but restrain yourself. (no counting the tabloids)

As I am typing this I am eating nachos and black bean salsa dip. I could be eating some carrot cake over there on the counter or some brownie thingies.

My regular nightly snack is an apple (preferably the Empire or Red delicious, there is no core when I finish, I eat seeds and all. Old folk need that roughage) and a hand full of almonds. I have already finished those. I just washed my salsa bowl and put up the nachos, they are down to the little bitty pieces, too little for dipping salsa.

I tend to like salty or sour snacks. I like my apples firm and so they crack when you bite into them.  I also eat fresh citrus.  I cannot eat grapefruit, because last night after feeling guilty for not following the Doctor’s orders, I resumed taking the statin, however, being the doctor that I am (?) I cut the prescription in half.  I can’t wait for the blood work in a couple months to show I am going to live forever.

Now when I was a kid I loved Mars  and Snickers bars, of course I cannot think of a candy bar I did not like. But in the last 20-30 years I probably haven’t eaten 30 candy bars.

Many evenings either Sherry or I will pop  popcorn, I like that too. I do spray mine with the fake butter, Sherry does not.

When I am writing I am usually up until 1-2:30 every morning and I tend to find something to snack on. The last think I have is two Werthers candies and two Dum Dums(The Dum Dums are for my brain food, LOL) while I am reading my ‘go to sleep’ book. I am reading Robyn Cook now,she writes good, Sherry’s suggestion.

So, do you prefer Salty, Sweet or Sour snacks?

We are what we eat, I am starting to look like an apple.(round, see below)

Sweet! Chocolatey with nuts is the bomb. I guess I've eaten your share of the candy bars.

Of course I like the chips, salsa, and apples and popcorn, too.

I like the caption of the gulls. I have found that gulls really like Doritos. (They will probably eat most anything, but rattle a chip bag and they will come flocking!)

Dark chocolate with salted nuts inside! LOL You are probably a lot healthier with what you pick.

Tortilla Chips, popcorn, pretzels, peanut butter M&M's, Smarties and right now I am working my way through a heart shaped box of Whitman's chocolates from hubby... :)

Hi Jack and Sherry!

I'd fight you for that last nacho, but will pass on the apple. With the exception of grapefruit, I can't think of a single fruit I'd willingly put in my mouth ever again. (Weird, I know ....)

...But to answer your question? Salt, all the way. Sweets I can leave alone, but I'm addicted to the nuts n' chips.

Candy is my snack of choice, but I do like pretzels dipped in cream cheese. Unfortunately, its because I like candy and pretzels dipped in cream cheese, I'm now on a "no snacks during Lent diet" to take off a few pounds :)

Whoops my comment didn't go so I'll say it again. I'll take all three. I wonder how many candy bars I have eaten in my lifetime. Now I'm on to Heath bars. Next month it may be Mr. Goodbars.

I do like a good mixture of both sweet and salty. I have a sweet tooth but I also like my salty nuts. I got a large container of mixed nuts at Christmas and am now down to the ones I like least. I'll eat them, but they are not my favorites. Almonds are supposed to be very good for you. Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

Sweet is always my first choice! I am on my 3rd box of Valentine chocolates! Jim like toast and hot tea as a bedtime snack!

I stopped buying snack foods because I end up eating too much of them.

I usually snack on leftovers from dinner.

I do miss the chips and I would kill for a Twinkie!
