Some thoughts and NASCAR

I am sitting here trying to conjure up something of interest, and ‘It ain’t getting thru to me’. We have had a good day. It has been many years since I watched a NASCAR race, and today I watched part of the Daytona 500.  I went outside to see if I could hear the cars, but I couldn’t. It is about 25 miles to the track from our home in Deltona.

At one time I bought a Roach Coach from Sherry’s brother.  I had two Breakfast/lunch stops NASCAR  related. One was Holmon-Moody who built race engines and the other was the Digard Gatorade Team. When the Gatorade Team won I gave out Free Tea.

It was called "Jack's Wagon"

I sold the truck to Son Mark, He picked up a stop at Race Hill farms. Then sold the business to Son Jack. Jack was here during the race so we recalled some stuff we both remembered. Ricky Rudd, Darrel Waltrip and Bobby Allison drove for Gatorade.

Bobby Allison drove the most during my time as a Roach Coach Driver. He seemed to be a nice guy. The whole team was good, it was a fun stop. Allison won the 1983 Winston Cup.

I left that career (LOL) and started building. My life has been sort flexible. HA!.

we have a motor speedway car track about 15 miles away and on a Friday night it makes quite a ruckous during the summer months.

These days they don't always call them roach coaches but food trucks and some have quite a following; advertising on Facebook where they will be and for how long and having quite a few people waiting for their foods :) You surely have led an interesting lift with the career paths you have chosen!

I just read your post out loud to Nick. He likes racing. He used to work at Carolina Speedway years ago. (I know far difference than Nascar). He has never been to a real race, hes prefers watching it on TV. We liked Davie Allison. But he was a fan of Mark Martin. He doesnt watch it like he used too, in fact hed rather took me mattress and sheet shopping yesterday so we did. Ha.

At least a Ford won

That is one job I don't remember you mentioning before...It would be sort of exciting being at a Nascar race. I've never been much of a racing fan, or much of a sports enthusiast of any kind, but many are and it's a big business for sure. Quite different from being a builder.

I have been to the race at Charlotte Speedway ...They are so loud
and hard to follow. They are going so fast and passing each other driving
close together surprise there are not lots of wrecks. It is fun to see the race one time but I wouldn't go all the time.

Racing is a huge sport. I went to the Indy 500 in 1973 after I got out of the Army but I haven't been to a race since.

I wondered if you weren't pretty close to the racetrack. That's a neat story about your and your boys' brushes with the racers!

Tom enjoys NASCAR, and it's beginning to pique my interest, as well. LOVE how, to a person, they seem like such Real Nice (and Patriotic) folks. (... unlike the so-called Hollywood 'elite.')
