Today I finished the drainage
ditch. The reason the ditch is required is the deck of the screened in porch is below the outside ground level. Fortunately the front of the house is lower so I had to get the water to the front. First I dug a ditch 65 feet long, 8 inches deep and 10 inches wide. (If
I were digging in North Carolina, I would still be digging. LOL)
I then lined the ditch with treated
lumber to make a trough for the water to
run in. This is all screws (no nails) so if necessary I can take it apart to modify it. (I sure hope it ain't necessary! LOL)
Then I put a top on the trough to
allow water to enter along it’s length.
I dug and piped under the Air Conditioning
unit.
The hardest jobs was trimming
the asphalt down to slope into the ditch.
I actually hauled 43 wheel barrow loads of dirt (sand) to the front, in
the common area to give a little more height in the driveway dip.
Once we get some downpours we will
know how it works. (I am sure I will add gutters, that will help with the splashing to the inside.
On another subject. Messenger on the
internet. I don’t understand it and have a rough time getting to it when
someone sends a message. We are on the net via cell signal and it is very sketchy
at times and I am sure I miss some.
Videos are hard to play,too much delay. So If I have missed some
messages I’m sorry. But I do stumble thru 150 e-mails a day, as long as they
are not videos.

Wow that's a lot of emails you get on a daily basis! And wow, that was a lot of hard work with that ditch! Bet you are sleeping good about now!

Yes that was a lot of back breaking work for sure. I do hope it does the trick. Good thing you have sandy soil there for sure !
I read aloud the digging part to Nick. We laughed at the quote about North Carolina digging. You were right!

I think you're pretty darn smart to figure that all out and then do it. Hope it all works well and you don't have to do a thing more.
Yep, a Ton of work you did with all the digging. And fancy woodwork, especially the corner all spiffy-looking. You sure do fine work and I think you may have resolved the problem.
