The goat story!
My dear Sherry makes it a practice of reading the obituaries from our home town and surrounding areas. She reads not only the names but who the survivors are. She finds kin folk and good friend that way. I did not know that ‘A’ was ‘C’’s cousin. Etc.
Today she reads me a name I knew, you may possibly have known him. I have heard the name all my life. Well actually I was not familiar with the man, but I was more familiar with his goat.

Did you know ‘Bill Grogan?’
Here is the song I learned when I was small:
Bill Grogan’s goat, was feeling fine,
Ate three red shirts from off the line.
Bill took a stick, and gave him a whack
Then tied him tooooo, the Railroad traaaack.
The whistle blew, the train grew nigh,
Bill Grogan’s goat was doomed to die.
He gave three groans of awful pain,
COUGHED UP THE SHIRTS, AND FLAGGED THE TRAIN.
I loved that little song my mama taught me.
So I hope they are taking care of Bill Grogan’s goat now that he is gone. (No disrespect intended, but it brought back some good memories of mama.)

I had forgotten about that song. Sure brings
back good memories. I know someone will take
care of Bill Grogan's goat. He is real smart,
and if he gets lost he can flag a train.
