Matt is the baby and Sherece the Reececup.
Now today's exciting entry!!!!!!
Life here in Florida is going good. As usual we are getting the normal cold snaps. It is raining outside, but at least the Coach is warm and we have power. Well I guess everyone understands, it should be raining outside and not inside. I just this minute got up to check where the coach has leaked in the past, no wet carpet, thank goodness.
Tomorrow we call for the mail. We will also visit with friends while there. Probably have breakfast with our former pastor & his wife Juanita.
It is sort of a let down here in Florida, these towns around here; Mt. Dora, Eustis, Tavares, Leesburg really go all out with outside decorations. They are absolutely awesome. Now they are off. Do all cities go out more for decorations than in years past? I can remember in years past the main decorations were trees in folks windows and lights strung overhead on Main Street down town. That was a big deal!

I love the Christmas season and do hate to see it pass, but then you know it really won’t be long until Spring. Spring when life seems to begin anew and hopes soar.
I know it is getting close to the inauguration. In a few days another man will feel the weight of the world on his shoulders. That must be a frightful realization, but it is a position men/women fight to achieve. Lord help this administration to hold the proper course of the ship of state. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if by some stroke of genius we could reclaim the jobs that have left he country. It would be great to hear of steel mills cranking up again and cotton mills going back on line.
Mentioning cotton/textile mills, Belmont is losing the last of its many cotton mills. The National Mill closes its doors soon. Belmont once teemed with Textile Mills and villages, now is a bedroom town for Charlotte. No longer can folks complain about the ‘low paying’ mills, because now they are ‘no-paying’ mills.
Hope you have a great week and thanks for coming this way.

PS: ABOUT GROWING OLDER...
First ~ Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.
Second ~ The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting inline for. Third ~ Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of theroads weren't paved.
Fourth ~ When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of Algebra.
Fifth ~ You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

Yes it would be wonderful to see all industries opening again and things being made here instead of overseas. Great pictures. Helen
Thanks for sharing the picture of the family, I always enjoy that
I live next to a torn down mill. This house I live in was once a mill workers house. Sometimes i wonder what life was like for them
Lordy I wish I was in florida. The time daddy took us fishing in florida we went to the military base and it was so beautiful with the trees and everything.I know alabama has it beauty but it would be nice to see florida again. my juni is taking my two grandsons to disney wotld when summer gets here.
My hometown had 2 cotton mills. I know one has closed, but not sure about the other one. But it was not operating at full capacity last I heard. I guess that is 'progress'? Stay warm and dry, Sheila
You should see all the lights that Belmont puts
out at Christmas. I guess that is why they
planted the trees downtown. It is real festive.
Speaking of textiles. The socks I wear that was made in the USA last forever. The new socks made where ever get holes in the toes almost immediately.
Just to think the kids]in the picture are grown. How time flies.

People are starting to decorate a lot here for Halloween too. Little bit strange but nothing wrong with it, I guess. I read some more in your book this morning at 4:30. I like it.
It would be great if all the jobs that we've lost returned but I don't see that happening in the near future, most likely not in my lifetime.
Some of the homes here go all out decorating, adding new stuff every year. I enjoy looking at the pretty decorations but I sure would hate to be the one that had to pay the electric bill once the Christmas season is over.

Hello Mr. Jack,
love the pictures! Our rain has moved out but here comes the cold! So get ready it will be heading your way soon.
God Bless
Randy
yep, it would be great if all those jobs can be reclaimed! wishing the soon to be new president well
our town does a bit of decorating for Christmas in the downtown area; they had a big pine tree with ornaments
in Montana, downtown had lighted ornaments on all the light poles; that was neat :)
hope the sun shines tomorrow as you go to get your mail

Jack, is the 14th your birthday??? If so HAPPY BIRTHDAY, if nor file it away for when it really is. Once you hit 70 brag about your age. You have no idea how happy I was on my 79th. I WOKE UP!! That is an accomplishment and then to get up, and be able to stand is wonderful. However age is not for the faint of heart at 79. Lucy. It is 6 above and will stay that way or drop ALL DAY and tomorrow may be a little better. Lucy
Jack I was thinking you had a birthday a while back but then I think we all where thinking wrong so just when is your birthday? I have you beat in age and I feel good about having live in good health (I hope) to be in my 70's. Lol. Take care, jean

I do hope we get the jobs back that have been lost...so many are homeless now and so many others can barely afford to make ends meet and feed their families...so sad...
