Belmont annual Parade

We debated walking down to the parade but drove anyway. Go there early. Folks taking pictures of kids waiting for the parade to start. Sherry got to talk to Colette's (Sherry sister now deceased) beautician. She has also been Kat's & now Shirl's beautician.
Honor guard, I had to stop and holor the flag. I was surprised that few to none did.

Announcing the start of the annual parade.

Charlie Martin (city council) Alex driving.

News 36, in our friend Joe's beautiful 1958 Chevy.

Here is OLD Preston TAylor. Long time friend and my surveyor (When I used to work). Preston and his wife were Citizens of the Year. They feed hundreds of kids and more so at Christmas.

US Navy JROTC from South Point High. Our GRand daughter was in this for a year. GO NAVY!

South Point Marching BAnd.

I love the old cars, this from the Belmont Historical Society.

An OLD Studebaker Truck...

Love the Horse and Buggy! Representing the Botanical Gardens, and the Celebration of Christmas LIghts there.

Caught the edge of this float. Notice the SNOW Yeah, you folks from up North, it is fake. But we take snow anyway we can get it.

Huh oh, I have been missing her, is that who I think it is in the back of the First Baptist Fun Girls CAR? Oh well!
This was the thrill for millions of kids in the 30-40-50's aera. Tony's Ice Cream Truck. Some of the best Icecream in the world. They brought the recipe from Italy with them.

Denise Friday, our Banker, "Hey Denise, who is watching Shirl's money???"

Yep, I thought so, So that is where she has been with the fun Girls at the First Baptist Church and she does not attend there, but she knows the FUN girls.... Hey Shirl, Denise isn't watching you money!!!

Ahhh, there is her money they are following the parade with it. Whew...... Thought it was lost.

You gotta love the old 'A' model Fords.
That was our local parade. Of course not all of it. But you get the idea. As we left, Sherry says, "Parades are not the fun they used to be."
No they are not. Parades are fun if you have kids or grand kids, watching their eyes, and feeling the excitement. And now to get the candy being thrown out. For years they have said, "No one is to throw candy to the spectators, yeah right. They alldid it because it is expected.
Thanks for coming by the log,
Nite Shipslog,

Looks like fun. I love a parade especially the old cars. I was shocked that people didn't stand when the flag passed at the last parade we attended. After John and I stood a few people followed suit. Makes me so sad.

I cannot believe you took my picture. I passed
two ministers that the same question was on their minds. I can't believe I was in the back of the 1967 ford station wagon hanging on the tail gate with a sign saying FUN GIRLS with a
surf board on the top and playing beach music.
We had fun!!!!!!!!! I will speak with my banker
next week about not watching my money.

I love all of the pictures and your descriptions especially the ones about your banker and Shirl's money. If it takes that big of an armored car to carry Shirl's stash I think I'll see if she'll adopt me as her sister. I also love the picture of Shirl in the back of the station wagon, she sure does get out and have lots of fun. What would a Christmas Parade be without candy for the kids that's part of the excitement for them.

Love & Hugs

looks like a nice parade Jack and Sherry; I always enjoy a small town parade like this where all the community gets involved in it
