I enjoy pictures

When I was a kid mama had two picture albums, and one shoe box with old photo’s. On a cold or rainy day when we were inside, Mama would parch some peanuts and we would enjoy the albums. As a child some of my favorite times were looking at pictures. We might have been listening to the radio, that was a long time before TV, and movies were a sin. BUT the pictures, now that was something.

Now here I sit on a rainy cold day and am watching my screen saver. All kinds of memories go thru my mind. (As a matter fact I am also eating parched peanuts that Shirl brought over.)(Here are some I caught the dates on as they passed, so I could go get them.)

I had to laugh at this one:

(I thought) The sign above my girl’s head has been true at times, you know; soap and or tanning oil

I’m weird, sitting here by the fire, with a Navy  hat on showing a USMC tattoo. Sherry had fixed us popcorn this day.

BARHARBOR TRIP 031

Walking downtown Bar Harbor, Maine, Son jack finds his Jewelry store.

BARHARBOR TRIP 088

From the peak of Cadillac Mountain I got this unique picture, not good exposure but showing a square rigger passing the bow of a cruise ship. Rules of the sea, the motor powered vessel must give way to a vessel under sail.

In the small town of Arco, Idaho these numbers are on the mountain side. I assume Graduating classes of the local HS. This must be some challenge, those letters are 30-40 ft. tall.

Our home getting a flat fixed in New Mexico.

INTO ALBUQUE 016

Dig this Hudson (guessing ‘47) on Route 66.

INTO ALBUQUE 018

Route 66 Near Albuquerque, NM (We didn’t come close to traveling ‘66 like friend Ken.)

I could be wrong, is that Sarah on the right (?) advertising Coors and his sister  ‘er.. mama Mel, of Up North with Mel. This one popped up twice today!  Sarah got married in the yard just a little while after this picture, way up there in Wisconsin. Today on her blog, Mel was showing snow still on the ground in that yard.

It is miserable outside, but it has been fun ‘inside our little home’ with my “SLIPPERY WHEN WET, GIRL”.

Thanks for stopping by,

I like the numbers on the side of the mountain. I saw the pictures of snow still at Mel's place.

Going throgh old albums and shoe boxes are still such a comfort -- bringing both chuckles and tears. (I suspect you know exactly what I mean?)

Loved the "slippery" pix, Jack!
... and for all my love of ships, I never knew that rule about who yields to who!

OK, back to the taxes. Thanks for the smiles!

Great post, Jack!
«Louis» agrees that Hudson is likely a '47.

I know what it is like being inside for months now. I do enjoy all the pictures on my computer too. I always enjoyed the campfires and very often we had popcorn too. My daughter makes the best. I'm feeling very lost around here this Spring as usually we'd be opening up the campers for the season come mid April. Can't do that anymore at all so enjoy the pictures of years past. Hope you all have a fantastic Friday !

I love looking through old photos...and I especially loved looking at the ones you posted.
Thank you for the captions on each one; that makes them meaningful for me as I gaze at each of them.
You and Sherry have had such wonderful times traveling. I'm happy for both of you.
We (hubby, Mama, Daddy, and I) will be traveling to North Carolina this week. We don't have plans for when we will return. We're going for rest and relaxation at our home in Western NC.
Love and hugs to you and Sherry,
Jackie

I loved looking at pictures. I wish they would have made more.
I wonder whose camera they used or
did someone in the family have one.

Those pictures that pop up on
both your computers are a joy
to watch.

You sure have been around the world. Glad you and Sherry will be
here for awhile. SIS

Yes, one will hardly remember years after what one ate, but always what one saw.

Please have you all a good weekend ahead.
