One never knows (Does one?)

On any road trip there is the chance of seeing the unusual. On days of clouds I get to imagine what animal I might see next.  I have been amazed at clouds all my life. When I see a rabbit or a dog form, I want the clouds to stay that way, but like time and life they roll past that formation to make another.

Not long ago we saw a tractor trailer that had ran off the interstate and into the woods, two giant tow trucks were hooked to it trying to extract it. Monday we passed a pickup truck on it’s side in the middle of the interstate. At each accident I wonder, what caused it?

Of course like everyone else we see deer carcasses, you know not only did the deer meet a bad end, but some car owner had a bad day also.

We all see emergency vehicles rushing to a situation or headed for the hospital and I say ‘I know someone’s day is ruined, maybe their life.  One never knows.

I see the guys/gals on the side of the roads with ‘Help Me’ signs, normally I do not give, but I have been known to, if the situation seems to agree with my thinking.  I always say, that is someone’s son or daughter, I hope they are missed.

Life is not always fair. One can be as healthy as a horse and in just a few minutes be given a death sentence. I always think of my BIL Jim.  Always got a great report from his  doctors, BUT he called me on the phone and said, “The doctor just gave me a death sentence, I have Esophageal Cancer.”  After hanging up I immediately did a search, sadly it said, ‘Only 4-8% of the victims survive.’  It wasn’t long until Shirl buried Jim. One never knows.

Campers are not immune. Our traveling buddies, my sister Kat and her husband Dick were camping on the Blue Ridge parkway and we were at Standing Indian. We got a call, Dick had passed. What a shock, One just never knows.

Live like every day is your last, and it is a fact, “ONE DAY YOU WILL BE RIGHT”.

Give a Smile every day, one never knows what that smile means to someone.

So true how things can change so quickly in one's life and so true to be grateful for every day, hour, minute, and second we have here on earth in our lives. Even the young are not immune to bad things happening to them; makes me appreciative of getting to the age I am and still alive.

I needed to read this, Jack!.
It doesn't happen often, but for some reason I've been unreasonably cranky for the last 24 hours. Wouldn't it be a crying shame if this was the last impression I left on my friends and loved ones?

I will tell you a sad thing we have been going thru. Andy goes to a Christian school. There was a young 23 year old teacher there who was AWESOME - he had done more in his 23 years then most people do in a lifetime. He was married for a year. Taught English. Was the youth pastor. EVERYONE LOVED JOHN-MICHEAL. Well a couple weeks ago he was hiking the waterfalls with his wife and another couple from his church. On the way up the mountain he talked to a fisherman about Christ. Well when they got up to the top of the waterfall - he walked behind the couple - his wife was taking a picture - he tripped and fell to his death in front of them and there was nothing they could do. The school and the high school kids were devastated. That whole week they just mourned him. We went to his funeral - there was 1500 people - the 400 students in high school had to stand and they surrounded the auditorium to like hug him - for two hours - not one peep out of them - not one problem. The people who spoke loved him so much. 23 years old. So you never do know what the next hour brings.

If we lived to be a hundred, it would still be short. So much to see, to do, to go. I think you and your gal have a great idea by seeing so much of this great country.

That is right "One never knows". Cancer ugliest word in the dictionary
Esophagil cancer inoperable. He was feeling bad and you told him
to go lie down and rest. You, Sherry and I went into the bedroom
to check and he said "Tell everybody I love them and I will save you
a place" he closed his eyes and died.
