Broyhill Furniture, ever hear of it?

 Little Known facts:

 .....The moon is moving away from the Earth at a tiny, although measurable, rate every year. 85 million years ago it was orbiting the Earth about 35 feet from the planet's surface.

The  Broyhills are well known in Lenoir, NC. The founder of Broyhill fine Furniture and the home is here in Lenoir.

Sadly like the Cotton mills down in the Piedmont of NC, here Huge Furniture plants stand idle and wasting away.  The Broyhills did a lot besides bring jobs to Lenoir. There is a beautiful relaxing walking area. One day we made 4 trips around the .43 mile track.

 This shot is of one of the side trails.  Below shows one end of the lake the track goes around. You can see the paved track inthe fore ground.

 One side trail goes beside a rock bedded babbling brook, cool and relaxing.

 Above is one of the few pieces of art in the park.  It is mostly natural.

 I wanted to show this natural Granite wall, it is near 50 feet high. As I looked at it I had to wonder what natural act sheered this granite?

 There are many benches in the park to relax and enjoy nature. Below Sherry is standing in front of one of the small ponds that have side trails around them.

This is such a relaxing place to walk and enjoy a beautifully landscaped park, donated by the Broyhills and dedicated to Mrs. Broyhill whose idea this was.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this nice oasis in a town that, like many in the USA, has lost jobs to cheap imports.

A side affect of the furniture company was firewood! As a kid camping with family I would see campers burning beautifully turned Oak table legs. They made a great camp fire. I learned later these were the rejects, defects that cold not be accepted in fine furniture. Gathered by employees, they also heated their homes with the beautiful oak.
  Sherry and I have even did this. When the companies were in full swing I scavenged some from the furniture dump!
