I really don’t have a lot of tasks here in the motor home so I kept on playing with the cell connection until we have a solid Cell connection to internet. It is
not as 'pretty' as it was, but the same idea.
I finally found ‘The Spot’ where a signal is steady.
(I need to find something to do!)
I'm 'turned' (mama's word) in such a way that I need to find something to do yeah, I am a busy body. I am thinking of ways to channel that. I
would like to find a way to assist seniors (or needy) in an area as we travel.
Those that need some ‘small’ but irritating things done around the house. Things like light fixtures that do not work,
outlets and switches that need replacing. Maybe some minor plumbing. Doors that
don’t open and close well, that type of thing.
Minor handyman things. I enjoy doing
this for folks who otherwise cannot afford the repairs.
Uncle Parker
and Uncle Fred Darnell were retired and both were handy. I am told Fred learned Locksmith'ing and re-keyed many senior’s homes to one key. Uncle Parker was an all-round repairman
and assisted others until he passed. So
it might run in the family.
Sherry and I have traveled to do Volunteer work together for a long time. We used to take on large jobs, like after hurricanes and also replacing bathrooms, etc. At my age the big jobs are behind me, I think. So the minor jobs can fill the void, if I can find a way to locate 'deserving' folk who need the little extra help. By deserving, I do not mean it as something they have earned, but something their life DESERVES. There are folk who have nothing basically, and not for any fault of their own. They have hit on bad times, many through the economy. I hope my intent is clearer than mud! ;-).

Very good and I an thankful for my Brother and Sherry who helped when Jim
passed. Brother you are a good person and helped people all your life.
Mother and Dad would be so proud of you. Sherry is wonderful she is right beside you whatever you are doing. You have helped so many people and they have told me how thankful they are for your help. If DAD only knew how you give your service. If you had not have been there when Jim passed I would have been alone on Sharon Amity yard full of antique cars and building full.
You help people all the time and there for me.
This is such a splendid idea, Jack! Even my Tom has come to recognize his limitations and has slowed his handyman efforts ... but there's no shortage of good folks doing without for financial reasons.
'Wonder if a grass-roots campaign (via Facebook for instance?) wouldn't get the ball rolling ... not only for yourself and Sherry, but other like-minded individuals across the nation. Sometimes, the power of social media astounds.
Wonderful service you want to provide! Honestly, if you and Sherry came to Phoenix, I bet between Myra and me we could "employ" you for a variety of handyman type of things :) Wonder if you work through a local church if they would know of seniors in need of your skills you want to offer. Good to be kept busy doing something productive and helping others.

what a nice service to offer to help others. sometimes the smallest jobs are the ones most problematic.
Wonderful idea and you have the talent to do it. I have a friend who lost her husband and retired both in 2015 so she provides rides to older people who need a ride to doctor appointments and such. Also a much needed helpful thing to do.
I do a little handyman stuff too but I'm not as handy as you Jack. Most of the things Imdo are things around here. I never seem to get caught up on all that needs doing.

You are definitely a doer and whether it is for yourself or others, seems you are always busy. In this crazy world many turn a blind eye and go the other way.
It's so wonderful, the way you and Sherry have always opened your hearts and hands to others. Keep up the much appreciated works. Bill and I also have started to slow our pace, cannot do what we used to but would still like to. Jobs seem to take so much longer too, hmmmmmmm, aging bites sometimes.
