They all look alike

Historical Photo:

When I said, "Do not tell anyone, I meant it!"

Sadly I learned, they all look alike! Traveling as we have you learn some folk are touchy about their appearance? I have mistaken people.  That has happened because (IMHO) someone looked like (or favored) someone I knew. I used to say, “You look just like 'xyz', a friend of mine.”  I dislike the retort, ‘Yeah, we all look alike.’ (I have never thought that way.)
I never will forget once in a line waiting for a drink I thought I recognized the dude in front of me. I tapped him on the shoulder. When he turned I realized he was not my friend. I said, “I’m sorry, I thought you were someone else!”
He replied (like my quick witted friend Buddy would have) “I might be!”

However this post is not about people, it is about batteries. You know AAA,AA, C or C13. I am posting because with my Cochlear Implants (and previous hearing aids).  I change batteries every three days. I have accidently mixed the dead and new batteries several times and it gets confusing imma tell you!  Because they all look alike dead or alive!
The common voltmeters (in this case) are no good. The simple voltmeter reads ‘potential voltage’. Potential voltage may be 1.5volts, but when used may last 1 second or 10 years. The voltmeter will not tell you. The only meter that could work would be an ‘AMMETER’. Not a common neophyte’s meter. So I pick a flash light and try the questionable ones. HOWEVER that does not work with the little round steel type and it is hard to find a device that will check them simply.
So if you deal with a lot of batteries, keep the bad ones separated from the new ones because “they all look alike dead or alive.”
We are still in the process of grieving, fixing and planning. I could probate the will, but since it involves family I am turning it over to an attorney tomorrow.  We still do not have the ‘death certificate’, so we are in limbo.
When I blogged every night I had an idea where I was. I dug the above up out of the archives. I think I have one more there. Life gets complicated (and confusing) in old age.  I think I have said all this before!!!!!!

It wasn't a lame entry, Jack. Are those rechargeable batteries you change every 3 days?

Your post are always a joy to read. Even if it is about batteries. I mean, who else can write about batteries and still bring smiles to faces?Tomorrow you can talk about extension cords...haha just kidding.
You will finally get things back together with your life and your thoughts. You are going through some difficult stuff right now and we get it.

Love from the West side

You could never post anything lame and like Lisa said, who else could bring a smile even about batteries. Mom changes her batteries for her hearing aides at least once a week. She also sees a specialist once a month who calibrates changes she may need. With everything so technical now, they can tell her if she turns up the sound on her radio, tv, phone, etc. and if her hearing is diminishing........I don't think so. She sure does well with her ' selective hearing.' LOL Keep on keeping on Jack. You guys are doing great for all you have to deal with right now.

Glad you are hanging in there and can still give me a reason to smile. I've mixed up batteries more than once. I thought I had a bag of new ones, only to find they all were duds. I'd packed them away when I moved and recently found them. Why on earth I packed old batteries I'll never know... Will continue prayers for you both as you go through these hard days. I know you have each other for back up and that's a wonderful thing in itself. Love and hugs from Ohio!

I hate when I get my batteries mixed up - but I do have a place I can check mine - I don;t have the little ones yet.

Your sister looked a lot like my mother.

It is harder to die it seems then to be born - a lot more red tape.

You all are still in my heart. I know it is hard.

I am sorry.

Late to your party … but I wouldn't miss it for the world!
Yes, all Tom's batteries and the recharging gizmos drive me nuts! Then, he throws something called 'live-poly' into the mix. My mother used to keep her new batteries in baggies in the refrigerator, believing they lasted longer that way. (???)

Methinks it's wise to turn everything over to an impartial attorney. Not that anyone might, but this way no-one can point fingers.
Hang in there; y'all are still in our prayers!
