The special things

Cars of beauty and art:
1978 Ford Cobra
Now tonight: (Entry looks a little  Christmasy, I sorta feel like it!)
We all have those special people in our lives. Children, Grands and Greats. That special friend, the one who sorta thinks like you and enjoys the line of things you do.

Then there are Wives and Husbands.  I feel for people who don’t LIKE their mate, even though they may LOVE them. Life is fun when you Like, Love, appreciate and enjoy being with that mate.

We are now in Florida.  I drove all the way down this time. I did make a reservation halfway down for Wednesday nite, but had to cancel because of the heating/cooling unit in Belmont. So we decided to leave at 6AM today and miss the traffic related to Charlotte. HAHA, I learned something there are a million people going to work at 6AM. Don’t people go to work at 8-9AM?

But we made it. The traffic wasn’t bad after we actually got out of Belmont. Nice all the way and we did not see one accident. BUT I did see a ’68-69 SS Chevy and a ’39 coupe Buick.  I get good feelings seeing the old classics on the road.

Both shots were terrible but at least here is proof. LOL

Relating Sherry and I to old classics, we are in good shape. Both of us at the beginning of our 80th years. We stopped several times coming down just for a break and one refueling time at the Flying J.

We talked a lot on the road, we are both tired, but on a high. We have been sitting for nearly FOUR SIX MONTHS (except for a few days taken for a trip to Mexico and back)  that is a 22 year record.

Shucks, it didn’t’ matter if we had made this trip ten times, it was me ‘n my girl. I tell her she is the most beautiful girl in the world, she ‘pooh-poohs’ that, but I assure her, “If I’m lying, I’m dying.”

She is sitting across from me at her computer ‘asleep’. The coach is set up. She took me out for a great salad this evening. We are in for the night. She made arrangements to pick up our mail (about 40 miles away) and take a former pastor and his wife out to lunch tomorrow. After that there are no plans, except RELAX and enjoy life.

After the summer we have had, this is our ‘heaven’ for a few days before we set off on some other ‘small adventure’.

Glad you got to Florida okay, Jack and Sherry! I bet it did feel so good driving those miles, no matter how tired you might be tonight, knowing you were finally doing something you both enjoy so much! It was a tough time for you all, now time to relax and have some fun and plan the next adventure that you know you'll more than likely be able to accomplish sooner than later this time around.

Little things … creature comforts. Don't they mean a bunch? Great to learn y'all arrived safely! 'Hope today's lunch is SWEET.

Of course, I can't wait to hear where the magic coach is headed next!

And the beat goes on~~~~~~on the road again, even tired, must have been exhilarating! I'm so happy for you both. So happy always that the trails were uneventful and you arrived safe. Your little piece of wheel-estate is treating you well. Enjoy every second as you move onto the next ' small adventure.'
Have a tasty lunch with friends and your lovely bride.
love n' hugs from up north of your many trails. We are in for some snow by Sat. morning...a cool spell worth a cuddle.

I agree with your thoughts on 6 am traffic. We headed to the beach at 6:00 in the morning last week and it was bumper to bumper going through Lake Wylie. We were both surprised then realized it was a work route into Charlotte and those people probably really do go in at 8 but have to leave at 6 to get there in time! Ha.
So happy to hear you and Sherry are safe and sound. Get some rest and snuggles and enjoy yourselves now.

It's great to hear you're back in the Southernmost tip of the USA! Welcome "home", let me know when you're rested and we'll plant some trees :) I am cognizant of the fact that you are tired of driving, tard of being out of your "safe space" but when you're ready, please let me know: I will move everything to the back burner and get my trailer hitched, Warm hugs and Welcome to the Sunshine State. Warm hugs and wishes for a good night's sleep in Flawda.

I love the way you speak about your wife. You are so right...you can love someone without being friends with them and that is kind of sad, I think.

You two at 80 are more vibrant than people I know that aren't 60 yet. I am a few years behind you but, God willing and health holding, hope to be beating the roads and traveling the country and LIVING LIFE. I used to have a message on our old answering machine that said if we weren't answering we were out LIVING LIFE. My kids laughed every time they heard it.

Enjoy your time relaxing after the errands. God bless you both- Diana
