Photo of the day:
So for today:
I am trying to make a strong determination as my New Years Goal,
that is to have a much better year in 2024 than I had in '22 & '23. I
know you get tired of reading this depressed old man's gripe'ing and I will try
to do better. Sherry and I have been thru some rough times in our short
67+ years of marriage. My pay the first year we were married was around
$700. Not $7000 mind you, but $700 but it was THE GREAT YEAR OF MY LIFE. (WE have
grandkids that earn more in a week than I did in a year!)
I look back and smile; our entertainment for each month was to
split a choc/nut sundae and play a round of miniature golf. My dad gave
me a 'silver $' once and told me to hold onto it and we would never be broke.
Well one month we could not afford our normal entertainment, so I paid for our
miniature golf with that Silver $. The owner of the little course was
also the operator. He could tell I hated to part with that $.
(Funny this below was during those close financial times and we enjoyed every minute of it!)
The next month we were doing better and when I started to pay for
our golf the owner asked, "Would you like to buy that silver dollar back?"
I did. I still have that silver dollar somewhere.
It is remembering things like that which make you appreciate
some very good folks in this world.
But financial troubles do not come close to Mental Stress.
Stress comes when your baby get sick and you cannot get them to
stop crying no matter what you try. Stress comes later when the same boys do
something crazy like sneaking and trying drugs or when a son is out driving
your car and does not back when they are supposed to be.
As you age there are many more stressful things in life.
Family things that can tear your heart out. You know, divorces, drugs,
and alcohol abuse.
I refuse to let the coming year be as bad on my mind as the last
two. So facing 2024 I plan to talk to myself and the Lord and see if I
can actually place it in His Hands.
Anyway, I want to take this time after all that complaining to Wish
YOU and OURSELVES, a very HAPPY
NEW YEAR. One we can enjoy and find peace in.

I so love that story of the silver dollar! You guys are living proof that $ can't buy happiness.
PLEASE, don't ever feel bad for griping. That's what friends are for. We listen (and pray).
Love y'all!
I remember those early days when Ken and I were first married too. Didn't have anything but we were happy anyway. We used to walk around in the mall in the summer because it was nice and cool in the AC.
Happy New Year.
Love the silver dollar story!!
I have just prayed for you once more. All I ask of you is that you continue to trust in God; with all your power, through gritted teeth even. He is in control of all that is happening to you and yours.
God bless you all.
The silver dollar story is cute. Sounds like something you’d see on the Andy Griffith show.
I wish times were still so honest and simple.
You said,” So facing 2024 I plan to talk to myself and the Lord and see if I can actually place it in His Hands”.
Let it go and let God.
Happy New Year
