Chief of police's car in the ficticious town of Mt. Bell, NC, where a man named Rags was discovered, by this author.
Now for today's insightful entry. (Ha!)
I still haven’t decided on the Title, and it is about finished. It is a short book concerning old folks like me, and what we should start thinking about to make life easier for us and our family.
(Decisions facing the aged) (alt-sub title)
I am not sure I like this sub-title, but I think It needs one. I would like to thank you for some very personal insights and ideas. Many of the thoughts fit right in, or verified some already used. Thanks for your help on a very important book.
You are never too old to learn, I keep telling myself that. While waiting for Rags, our latest baby to arrive, I started a non-fiction book.
I know I said I was writing Tobies’s Tales, short stories. But I got side tracked. This non-fiction book is teaching me so much, I am enjoying learning. Problem is what I am learning, I do not really like. Have you ever had a strong idea (opinion), you just know you are right, and a little later have a complete change of mind. That is what this book is doing to me.

I do have some good suggestions for the title, but I could use more to choose from. So far I have:
The decisions of Age, Responsibilities of Age,
OLD: Now what?, Grasping Dignity Gracefully,
Gracefully Grasping Dignity, Taking Charge of Growing Old;
Don't Let Old Age Creep Up on You and Final Decisions.
I think I am leaning toward:
Gracefully Grasping for Dignity (title)
Ideas and Info for the Aged (sub-title)

Anyone dealing with government ‘legalese’ gets frustrated I think. I just don’t like the way they say in effect, we will take your house and sell it, if you cannot pay your nursing home bill! There is no way you can sugar coat that.
The book does not give legal or financial advice, it does site a couple examples to make a point. Later I will try to write in this blog, about what I have learned.
Thanks for coming this way.

A group of Alabama friends went deer hunting and paired off in twos for the day. That night one of the hunters returned alone, staggering under the weight of an eight-point buck.
"Where's Henry?" the others asked.
"Where's Henry?" the others asked.
"Henry had a stroke of some kind. He's a couple of miles back up the trail," the successful hunter replied.
"You left Henry laying out there, and carried the deer back?" they inquired.
"A tough call," nodded the hunter,

"but I figured no one is going to steal Henry!"

I think the title you are leaning twoard is a good one. The nursing homes here in Nebraska, will take everything you have that are county owned. My brother in law signed everything over in his sons name when my sister with alzhiemers was put in a county run home permenamntly. By the time she passed away no one knew where her dentures were, or her glasses and none of her clothes were there. It is not a nice place to go. However that is where I will wind up if anything happens to Joe before me. They even questioned the grave spaces and headstones that had been paid for long before she went in the nursing home. However her husband managed to keep thjose in his name. Lucy
I like the title you are leaning towards too Jack! and as soon as I finish this comment, I'm emailing you so I don't forget (again)
should be a very good useful book I think!

I like the title you are leaning toward. The best thing we did was prepare every ones obituaries while we are of sound mind and just
continue to update like we do our records. My foot stone is there with my birthdate only thing they have to do is put dod. After you
have a family death and can't find records and
things you need then you will know how important it is to plan.

ty for coming by my journal & leaving a comment.
i like several of the titles you mentioned...any would be appropriate. ;)
have a good week.
huggies...
I think it would be easy if I was deciding about my own life. I have talked to my girls about that. But when I had to make decisions for my mother, it was harder, I had her in my home for 28 years but had 3 brothers and sisters that had their own opinions. I feel a little bitter since I felt their opinions had more to do with their own interests than hers. Lindie
Guess I'm the odd man out I like "Taking Charge Of Growing Old". I'm still reading a little bit of "Sticky" every morning about 4 A.M. I'm on page 208. I like it.
I have to agree with Paula..."Taking Charge of Growing Old"...put the responsibility on ourselves...not leaving it for someone else to decide...but then...after I am gone...who cares what is decided...LOL..God Bless..hugs...Ora
Jack I'm sure you will come up with good names for your book any of the above and the ones you have picked sounds good. If you still have my address send me a copy of Rags and I will mail you the money for it and if your address has changed don't forget to send the new one, take care, jean
I like the name you are leaning towards as well...
Jack you are on a roll with all these books...and do such a wonderful job doing so!
