Prayer is good!

I always say this is OUR Blog, Sherry & Jack, unless it is something Sherry disagrees with, and then it is my blog. LOL! I was raised in a Christian home, very conservative. I was raised to believe in God and that he could do all things, nothing was impossible to him.

When I was about 12 my first test came, my dog died. Ace was the greatest dog in the world. I buried him. But before that I asked God to bring him back to life, He didn’t. So after the Burial I prayed over his grave every night, Asking God to make sure Ace was in heaven, even if he was the only dog there. This kid earnestly prayed.

Mom had taught Shirl and I to pray each night. One night Shirl kept correcting my prayers and I called mama and told her if Shirl kept messing up my prayers I was going to knock her down (Sisters think they know everything!) Mama fixed it. I learned what mama could not fix, it would take God.I have thanked God for many things in my life, and I have asked him for things much more. Today I got some news that concerns some of you on the net because you are familiar with the guy. Others it concerns because you are a Christian and believe in prayer. This has never been an overly religious BLOG, but there comes a time to ask for prayer.

This is one of those; here is a copy of the e-mail I just received:
hi jack, On Wed Gary suffered a mild stroke at home. he was rushed to Carthage hospital, given tpa a clot buster drug and rushed to upstate university hospital stroke center in Syracuse, Ny. On Fri he had a stent placed in the right carotid. He has regained his strength on the left side. He has had a final test this morning and I should be taking him home after lunch. He said you would know who to let know and ask for prayers. Thanks Anna Mae

"IN GOD WE TRUST" !

G A R Y

( This is Gary in his younger years!)
Gary is the author of Old Boomer’s page. Please take a moment and offer a prayer in his behalf. Thanks!
If you read S’gar, the Character ‘Woody’ was inspired by Gary.

I also received some good news. Mrs. Jackson of Jackson’s Cafeteria dropped us a card thanking us for the book ‘Rags’ and thanking us for the gift of the Greek Fisherman’s hat.
She said Bob had read Rags before he passed away and said she should read it; she had just finished it and wanted to invite us to dinner. Of course we are out of town now, but think ‘how gracious the lady is’.
Thanks for coming by the log,
Nite Shipslog
PS:
Drop by the Boomers Page and wish him well.

You all are a great bunch!!!!

Rest assured of prayers from here. I still believe that God CAN do anything - but have learned that in His wisdom he does what's best over-all for those who are concerned when tragedy strikes. Difficult to understand when one is in the midst of crises - still I believe it. And He has invited us to pray. Hebrews 4:16 "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

Prayer is a wonderful thing that keeps us so close to God. He Will take care of your friend, Woody and see to his family's needs. God bless you too Jack and Sherry, for having such huge caring hearts. Your souls will be rewarded in heaven.
Rest knowing that Woody has guardian angels.

When we were praying you forgot some of the words and I helped with the prayer and you stood up and said "Mother if she helps me one more time I am going to knock her backwards" and knelt back down and finished praying. I think we were about 6 and you were 3. I believe GOD answers prayer. I pray "GOD PLEASE HELP WOODY".
