But there is no need dreading and worrying. We lost a friend two days ago. He lived in this very park. Name was Enoch Kirkland. He was Mary Ann’s husband. We always call Mary Ann when we come up, just to let her know we are in the area. We have known Mary Ann most of her life, at least Sherry Has, I did not meet Mary Ann until she was probably fourteen. She is the sweetest lady. Beautiful, with bright silver hair. An Emergency vehicle past our coach a few days ago, our first thoughts were of Enoch.
It was him, and he had fell and cut his toe. Not good, because he had a hundred medical ‘issues’. Mary Ann asked the emergency escort to stop by and ask us to come up. To keep it short we went up for a few minutes. Enoch did not look good. But as usual he indicated death was not that bad and he would sort of welcome it. But until then he was gonna sit on the porch and enjoy what was left of life.
Things got worse and they flew Enoch out of the mountains to Charlotte where he left Mary Ann and his soul took its flight. The funeral was today. So there does come an end, as we all know. Shirl’s return e-mail after I notified her, was a few words, including, “I know what she is going through,” AND She does.
So do some of you who are reading. Thank God, so far we do not. Losing parents and brothers and sister is bad enough. So last night I held Sherry a little more, and she held me.
God, be with Mary Ann as she faces life and She will, She is one tough cookie.
Take care, don’t fear the end, but don’t live worrying about it either. If you are a believing person, ‘tis good. If not? Just my opinion, but it is worth thinking about. I trust my mama and dad they were believers.
Anyway I know how I feel, and I don’t argue with a soul. We all walk this road of life; I have a hope of where it leads.

Jack and Sherry, my heart goes out to your friend Mary Ann. Losing a mate is never easy. I'm amazed that I had not commented on your blog all week. Your stories are always interesting and I normally can't wait to read them - but we've been busy with Camp Meeting, then took Mom to doc yesterday (regular check-up) and took Frances to heart doc today (same thing). Loved thinking about the "what if" for just a few minutes - but then my mind comes back to reality and I rejoice in my blessings. Hope those air cons keep running right! Ours sure is needed here. Sooooo hot.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, and your friend Mary Ann. It was frightening enough when Bill had his heart attack, the long ride to the hospital, the waiting...I can't imagine loosing him. My prayers are with you all. Loosing my Daddy has been the hardest for me so far. Mary Ann will heal as time goes by, but she will Never forget her Enoch. Give her a WI hug and yourselves too. Each passing makes it such a reality of our future. Aging is inevitable, so go on with your lives, living life to the fullest. It is what Enoch would have wanted for all his loved ones.

My sympathy to Mary Ann. She will have hard days but I'm sure she will be fine. Good advice from your entry.
It is a wonderful thing that you two were there for Mary Ann and Enoch. I cannot think of anyone I'd rather have help me dry my tears when it comes time for some of my dear ones to leave this earth. Love and warm hugs from Okee.
So sorry for the loss of your friend and Mary Ann's husband. I'll keep you all in my prayers. Take care, Sheila
I like his attitude. He was sitting on his porch enjoying whatever time he had left.
I'm so sorry for Mary Ann's loss and your and Sherry's loss of a friend. they looked like they made a very nice couple. have to be a bit greatful that his final days he was doing things he enjoyed with camping and was with his love. I can't imagine losing a spouse, though I know so many people have gone through it (Shirl). hoping Mary Ann has a great support system to be with her during these days

I am sorry for your friends loss. I have been there far to many times. She will be ok just as Shirl and I and many others have but it hurts so bad when we know they are gone for good. I just keep faith that I will see my entire family, my son. my 2nd husband again so we will see.
ENOCH HAD A GOOD ATTITUDE. MINE SOMEWHAT SIMILAR.
HAPPY WITH WHAT I HAVE AND PLEASED TO KNOW WHERE I AM GOING.
EACH BREATH IS A PRAYER PRAISING JESUS FOR 24/7 CARE SO MANY YEARS.
THE SCRIPTURE 'PRAY WITHOUT CEASING' PROMPTED MY PRAYER ASKING EVERY BREATH PRAISE JESUS.
SO MANY RESCUES AND TIMES OF FORGIVENESS.
YES, FOR THOSE WHOM DO NOT KNOW JESUS, TAKE TIME AND GET AQUAINTED SO THAT YOUR SPIRIT WILL NOT BE SEPERATED AFTER THAT LAST BREATH.
ETERNITY IS A LONG TIME FOR THAT SPIRIT TO BE FLOATING AROUND IN SPACE SEARCHING FOR FRIENDS AMONG OTHER FLOATING SPIRITS AND SO MUCH REJECTION , NEVER KNOWING JESUS. sam
My deepest sympathy to your friend Mary Ann and to you & Sherry as well for the loss of your dear friend. I'm glad under the circumstances that you & Sherry were in the area so you could be with Mary Ann when she needed you most. I had often wondered how you and other travelers handled situations like this when you're on the road so far away from home.
Love ya'll
Debbie
