This process has helped us through some of the same personal family crisis many families have faced. Walking thru the woods, around a lake, by a creek and even up a mountain helps get your mind off the things you have already turned over to the highest power. Funny how we , particularly me, will say It is something I cannot change, I can accept that. Then an hour later will be trying to think of a way to FIX it.
But our walks and talks have always calmed the ‘evil spirits’ (ha) that seem to bug us.
Sherry on the AT. I followed her over 1800 miles.
This is Sherry practicing to walk with me. Learning my personality.
This is me being trained to walk. My personal trainer. By fate we weren't to be married. LOL
WE all see times that we think, no, we know, things are going to ‘Hell in a hand basket’ (whatever that means???) WE MUST do something!
Then someone we know dies unexpectedly. Someone close (or our age), finds out they have cancer. A stoke hits close. we visit a good friend in a nursing home and see the quality of life there. At that time, and usually only then, I realize the fragile line I am walking. Then for a little while say, when problems come up, if I cannot fix it, I will have the serenity to accept that.
I am amazed at some of you, you can put some gems of knowledge in short packages, even in your comments. You are succinct and precise. I on the other hand drag on and on to say something.
Thanks. As we walk and talk, some of the things you have said come up, we laugh, we smile and most of the time agree that you guys are pretty good friends.

Lord help me to do that for the rest of my life. That reminds me of the short statement Fred used once, “When I say Lord help me, Frances always says, HE is!”
Now since this is a Blog, I usually say what is on my mind. I just heard Sherry tell Glenda on the phone, “Yes, there are no secrets in our family; Jack puts them on the blog.”
Like most of you, I read several blogs. I do it for different reasons. Some for fun, some for entertainment, a couple for their spiritual content, some to see a foreign view and some to get a bit of wisdom and encouragement. This is a great medium for that.

I always find some wise words here at your house too! Walking is one of my favorite exercises. I amble slowly, no quick steps for me, but I love it.
walking is a great way to solve all of life's problems for sure!!! I know I've spent many a walk praying to God for wisdom or direction or protection, etc
love the pictures of your walking buddy in Sherry, her teaching you how to walk (LOL) and you running with your training partner, very nicely done!
I'm one of those that rambles when I put up an entry; I'm not one that is known to get a point across in a few short words, LOL
hope you had a nice Father's Day Jack!!
betty
Can't exactly remember where, yet read that "if someone asks you to walk a mile, invite him to walk two with you." One gladly will follow you through those ahead. A nice start of the new week for you all.
Happy Father's Day, Jack! I hope you've had a peaceful & relaxing day.
Like you, I read a variety of blogs for different reasons. I enjoy seeing to world through others eyes and thoughts. I think the difference in bloggers brings a sense of balance into our lives that we otherwise might not be able to achieve, depending on our circumstances. As far as writing myself, well..I guess you could say I hem-haw around a lot and my readers probably think..sheesh, she wrote all that and didn't say "anything", she wasted my time for "this"? LOL!
And you know me and my neverending comments on your blog. Soooooo, I'll spare you this time. HAHAHAHA!!!
Love & Hugs

Hope you had a nice Father's Day! Take care, Sheila
You have a wonderful philosophy. One of my closest friends (since we were seven years old) died unexpectedly two weeks ago. It made me, too, realize what a fragile line we all walk.
Happy trails...!
Hope your Father's Day was a nice one and I'm sure it was with Sherry by your side. Yes that picture does look a little like my legs.
Paula is doing real good training her turtle.
I am realizing every day how precious Life is.
I haven't seen the movie they say is about
two older people that made a bucket list.
Things they wanted to do before the curtain is
pulled. So I have made a bucket list and going
to start down the list.

walking is my one way of relaxing, exercising and releasing all the stress i got from a day of work load...blogging is my one way of talking with those people who wants to read and view my SIMPLE blog,i say simple because i only put what is happening with me here in taiwan and nothing else....those photos i shared are my hobbies, nothing more than that, and im too happy to find YOU AND SHERRY as one of my precious blogging buddies...though i know were to far but blogging keeps us near....and i thank you for that....HAPPY FATHER'S day.... i just missed my dad and brother everytime i say this words...
It's been a long weekend. A busy one. And as I watched Bill scurrying about trying to get as much life in the day as possible, I too, thought of how we are the next generation to be remembered. It's scary. Bill was weed-wacking, missing a few spots, cutting more of my flowers off than he should, and I usually run out to the rescue. Not anymore, they are Just plants. They will grow back. His sight will not. Time for tears. Thanks for being such a good listener, Jack and Sherry, you are precious to me. I should really read all you say, to Bill. He is not always a patient man, but a Damned good one. He's been a wonderful father to my kids. He did not have to be, but he Is so pleased they call him Dad. Life is fragile, and do not EVER regret going on and on to say something. You have inspired more than me, over and over. It is why you are so enjoyable to read.
BlessYourHearts...and Happy Fathers Day Yesterday
Jack "Happy belated Fathers Day" I hope it was a good one for you ~ sounds like you and Sherry really enjoy your walks and talks together ~ and I loved the pictures especially the one of the little girl walking her dog :o) hope you both have a peaceful week ahead of you ~ Ally x
What a great post Jack! Had to chuckle while looking at the pictures and reading your captions. Just like you, I love blogging - both the reading and writing side of them...but Frances sometimes cautions me, saying I put too much information about us out here in cyber-space for folks to read. Of course I never put anything so private here that I wouldn't want to put on the front page of the local newspaper! I'm proud to post pictures of my lovely bride, my kids, my grands, and to tell
of God's blessings on my life. I always say, "Why not? People can find out anything about you anyway - if they want to bad enough!"
I love you "stream of consciousness" way of blogging. I feel like I know you even though I've only met you and your bride once. Thank you for sharing your beautiful and thoughtful spirit with your fellow pilgrims in seeking serenity.
JACK, HAVE YOU EVER WRITTEN A BLOG AND AFTER SENDING IT GOT TO THINKING, I DID'NT NEED TO SAY THOSE THINGS ? COMMENTS TOO. JUST A FEW MINUTES AGO I SENT A COMMENT TO
MELLOWDEE MUSINGS AND ALREADY GOT TO THINKING, NO NEED TO SAY THOSE THINGS.
PEOPLE THAT ARE UNHAPPY WITH WHAT THEY HAVE WOULD DO WELL BY FOLLOWING YOUR DESCRIPTION OF TAKING A WALK IN THE WOODS ALONG A CREEK, SEEING BULL FROGS JUMP IN AS THEIR POSITION IS APPROACHED, MAYBE SEEING A COPPERHEAD OR EVEN A RATTLESNAKE. BIRDS TWITTERING, MAYBE A BABY COTTONTAIL AND GET THE MIND OFF OF THINGS BEING DEPRIVED OF THINGS BECAUSE OF CIRCUMSTANCES.
I SAY THANK GOD FOR WHAT WE HAVE.
SO MANY ARE SO SPOILED. HOW WOULD THEY FARE IN ANOTHER 'GREAT DEPRESSION'?
I REMEMBER SEEING MY DEAR OLD MOTHER SHEDDING TEARS WHEN COUNTING OUT HER SAVED INDIAN HEAD PENNIES TO BUY A CAN OF BAKING POWDER NEEDED TO MAKE BISCUITS.
HAPPY WITH WHAT I HAVE. sam
