Family and Memorial Day

Little known facts:

A shark is the only fish that can blink with both eyes.

A snail can sleep for three years.

Al Capone's business card said he was a used furniture dealer.

But a well known family fact is, WE had a great Memorial Day Family get together. We had all the family except Sweet Megan and the family in Utah and Oregon.

The planning started Friday and we did have some wonderful family fellowship and fun. Two of the Great grands (Stella and Jude) were there along with grand-dogs.

We had burgers, hot dogs and all the trimmings. Mary brought cupcakes and pasta salad. I cut a watermelon.  It was all good.

I dug out these two ‘Bucket Seats’ that I had made for The grand kids.  These two were the ones Josh and Stephen used as kids. As you can see, they are a little big for them now!

Walking in everyone noticed this drive way drawing.
It reads ‘1.1 Mil’.

Of course there were questions, in my short speech about Memorial Day before the blessing, I emphasized the number did not represent an inheritance, but it represented the 1.1 Million Soldiers, Coasties, Sailors, Airmen and Marines who had given their all for our country. Today we were remembering them.

(Sherry, Shirl, Mary and Sherece)

I hope you had a great day.  I am proud of our country’s Remembering our Heroes.

Oh Jack, I love every one of these images! Is that really Jude in the second picture? ... to borrow a phrase from my DIL, time is a thief.

So glad to be on the receiving end of this post. I appreciate you!

Sobering thought 1.1 million gave their lives for our freedom. So grateful for them all. Seemed like a lovely gathering for you and your family!

Looks like a great time was had by all. Glad you had a nice shady spot to sit in outside too. I like your 1.1...did not know what it was till you told about it. Good way to remember what the holiday is all about.

You sure have a way to tug the heart strings. The dedication you gave your family was awesome! God's surely blessed you and your family a million-fold.
love n' hugs from up north where the gardens are Still Not In due to all the rain and saturated ground. Maybe mid-June

Looks like you had a great time. Looks like a perfect cook out and family gathering. I managed to get off work a couple hours early so Nick took me to get a milkshake and then we walked it off. Later we just enjoyed a Pizza together while watching the thunder storms roll through. It was all and all a nice day.

hugs
