Our family story…
A couple years ago I did a series of blogs entries about our lives, Sherry and I. They have been turned into a paperback book. I started to call it “Sherry ‘n Me. ” but somewhere in the vast depths of this computer there is a book about my dog and myself called, “Ace ‘n Me”. So this book is simply “Jack and Sherry”.
I figure it will sell a total of 12 copies (to me) for me to give to the family. I have no problem with that. I wanted to record some of the data for the family if they ever develop a curiosity about our lives. That has been ‘me’ in the last few years regarding mama and daddy, and their lives before I knew them. I crave to know, but it is too late everyone who knew them in that time frame is gone.
This picture found among his mama's stuff by my cousin in LVegas:
I know it is daddy when he was a farmer in Georgia, That is Uncle Oscar with him. They are whittling. Were they waiting for a baby to be born? Or just 'chewing the fat', as the old folks said..
Our lives do not come close to the excitement of our fore parents families' lives. I am still stunned to think of someone living through the ‘Great Depression’ and existing without individual government assistance. It blows my mind, but they did it.
So now it is finished. What I thought would be 100 pages is close to 400. I dropped Europe and the UK for distribution to keep the price of the book down. I figure no one in the rest of the world will care about our lives. This is mostly just a family thing. The price is still around $10. I was hoping for a smaller book and much cheaper. Hahahaha. My cost will be better of course but not a lot after shipping. This book effects mostly our family. It reads sort of like a novel, but still boring I am sure unless it is your family.

the book sounds like a good read.
Wonderful idea to do a book like this, Jack! You are right, you will have questions that come up and no one will be around who can answer them. I might have to "steal" this idea from you, but I can't imagine my life being anywhere close to 400 pages :)

What a wonderful thing to do for your family. I'm sure it's a great book. You have lived in some exciting times. When I think about all that's happened in my lifetime, I'm amazed! Lots of changes world wide and at home. I got a laugh out of the bucket seats...I'd never heard that one before, but so true!
Jack I seriously wish I knew the history of my family like you do yours. I wish I knew all the people in some photos I have, My kids don't really ask me about the past either. But 400 pages is impressive! I like them whittling in Georgia!
Yours is a wonderful idea!
When my cousin visited last year we realized how woefully unaware we are of our dads' early lives. Regret's a bitter pill.
Dad wrote, in pencil, a couple books of his youth and young adult life. We had wished he had written about his catching our Mom's heart and writing about the 10 kids they had. It's in our memory forever tho. The first Christmas after his passing, I had copies of his books made for each of us kids...a true treasure. I loved the photo of your daddy and uncle. I often to write on the back of a photo who is who and even an explanation.
Way to go on your family heirloom book. Awesome, Jack!
love n' hugs from up north. We are having a heatwave, not even minus-10 tonight.
