Well dressed beggar running along beside King George V's coach 1920
Today..... we attended an ‘uptown church’. One of Charlotte’s most prestigious, Myer’s Park Presbyterian Church. They seat approx. 700 for worship. (I can't help it, I am a counter 30 pews one side = 60. Min 12 people per LOL). We arrived very early so I had time to count the pews. The inside architecture and design is itself simply beautiful. The very old inside carved and exposed beams are beautiful, much like the ones in the cathedrals I have visited in Italy and Greece.
It was the Christmas music day, no sermon. We were there to hear our grandson Stephen sing. He is a professional tenor, and of course the best! LOL (He is very good.) The church is an uptown church where the four lane road is reduced to 2 lanes by the city for parking.
This church has a large orchestra (including harp and bells) and choir. They have a professional conductor. Being raised in a less formal church environment, I could worship, but it just wasn’t what I am used to.
But it was great to see and hear Stephen. He is a very busy young man. He sings in the large Catholic Church choir also. He left the service and went to work at a musical supply store (Instruments etc).
JJ took charge of Jude for the rest of the day, or until his mama the nurse, gets home from work. They dropped us off at home. Life is good. We are so glad we drove up for a few days.

I love the acoustic in churches. I bet it was an incredible experience. I'm a counter too. It's good to know I'm not alone.

I bet the sound was amazing in that church. Im more used to a small church but I do enjoy times im invited to a larger church for singings. Sometimes a change in scenery is nice. Im laughing at how you had to pull out your camera to snap photos inside the santruary. Its is beautiful though! Are you in town through Christmas?

i bet your grandson sounded wonderful singing inside that church. enjoy your time there.
What a sweet memory-maker! Do you know if Stephen happens to have a YouTube channel?
Embrace the closeness!
Cool you got to hear Stephen perform! Sounds like a very talented young man!

The church sounds beautiful and so does your grandson Stephen. Our little historical church has been completely redone even with stained glass windows. The most beautiful wedding I have ever attended as far as sound goes was at Mission San Jose on the southside of San Antonio.
So glad you got the opportunity to hear the Christmas music made extra special by your grandson! What a special gift ! Old churches are beautiful.

A strong tenor voice is especially wonderful coming from a loved ones voice. I love the Christmas music. Over half the Jr. choir in our church are nieces and nephews. We also have bell players in our church but we seat far less. I'm so glad you enjoyed your day.
love n' hugs from up north. It's warmed up a bit and promises to stay that way through Christmas for our travelers. Where did this year go?
