I just do not fit todays world…

I imagine every older generation before me has felt the same. Things changing much faster than my brain can keep up with.

Maes_Old_Woman_Dozing

I have lost the idea of legal and illegal.  I believe in states rights, but wonder when a state passes a law making an illegal substance legal for recreational use, what happens to the National law?  I understand Mr. Holder has said the government will not pursue users in those states.

Now Please do not get me wrong, I feel that pot is probably not any more harmful than tobacco and alcohol, but I think it harms teens in their mind set.  That statement probably doesn’t make  sense to anyone but me.  Surprised smile.

Speed, you all probably drive on our roads, streets and highways. Speeding is a fact of life. If you do the speed limit on the interstate, you just might get run over. I know folks who set their cruise control at 80mph on the interstate.  Have you ever thought of the impact of two cars head on at 70-80 mph? like hitting a wall at 140-160 mph. OUCH!

Marriage. I believe the last statistic I read was over 50% divorce rate. When I was 13 I knew of only one divorce.  I have to admit that many folks stayed married ‘for the kids’, or so I have heard. I do have enough sense to know that some divorces cannot be avoided.

New cars. I was raised in a family that used cars were the norm. Now it seems New cars are the norm. Some families are making payments on several NEW cars.  If they have the income, more power to them. BUT if they are just barely making it, that is a shame.

News.  Before I lost my hearing the 24/7 news was starting.  There is just so much news, the rest must be ‘created’ by some ingenious reporters.

Gas.  The price reached near $4 again and now it is down to $3.25, I think it is planned to make you feel like $3.25 is a DEAL. Manipulation I say. Winking smile

Okay, I ain’t leaving this life yet, but I am trying not to get upset at the things that make me feel uncomfortable.

Thanks for coming by the log.

PS:

I do better on the road. I don’t fuss half as much.Embarrassed smile!

G'evening Jack,

I think you've spoken what lots of us have been feeling for a long while!
What always gets under my skin are those who think speed limits are a suggestion. Call me a chicken, but even in my youth, driving a crazy sports car, I was kidded for not "letting it out." Speed scared me then, and does to this day! (Ya, one of these days I'll be the crazy one you see on the news, caught for trying to impersonate a police officer. LOL!)

Hugs,
Myra

I guess all of us who grew up in a different age feel like you do. It Makes you wonder where will it all end. Well I've read some in Revelation so I guess I know the answer.

[This day and age we're living in
Gives cause for apprehension
With speed and new invention
And things like fourth dimension.

Yet we get a trifle weary
With Mr. Einstein's theory.
So we must get down to earth at times
Relax relieve the tension

And no matter what the progress
Or what may yet be proved
The simple facts of life are such
They cannot be removed.]

You must remember this
A kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh.
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by.

And when two lovers woo
They still say, "I love you."
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by.

Moonlight and love songs
Never out of date.
Hearts full of passion
Jealousy and hate.

Woman needs man
And man must have his mate
That no one can deny.

It's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die.
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by.

Oh yes, the world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by.

«Louis» understands, Jack. He feels like he doesn't fit in, either - especially with the State of Insanity Formerly Known As California!

Nice Chevy shots...

I feel behind the times. The song "As time go by" written in 1931 for Broadway musical "Everybody's Welcome and also sung by Famous Singers.

Life use to be so simple and very
enjoyable. I feel like I am on
a merry-go-round and can't get off.
Life is good if you can keep up with
the pace but to fast for me.

I understand your thoughts...
My thoughts are that we live in a land of laws (rules)...and until/unless they are proven to be detrimental to us and are revoked, we should abide by them. If we break them (and that is a choice that is made) then we shouldn't be upset at the consequences. Breaking rules/laws have consequences.
I feel that we (members of our nation) have swung too far to the left, Jack. Things have swung so far left (liberally,) that I'm afraid something is going to give (break.) We can't go on like this. We are heading for a disastrous future, and that saddens me (for my grandchildren and great-grandchildren.) I continue to pray for our nation. And, I have to remember that progress begins with me. We all have to take personal responsibility. We can't leave it up to others. Each of us has to do our part in making this country even better.
For instance, I personally contacted both of my state Senators before the vote on cloture took place this past week. Whether they voted the way I wanted them to or not, at least they knew how I felt. They are elected by us. We need to let them (and our Representatives) in Washington, D.C. know how we feel about matters. We can't just "hope" they "guess" how we feel.
Enough from me. Sorry to take up so much space. Just felt like talking to you this evening, my friend.
Hugs to you and Sherry,
J.

I'm with you about the gas prices, Jack. The same thing happens here in California, it goes up a lot and of course everyone is in a panic; then the prices start going back down again and we are grateful to be paying $4.00 a gallon instead of $4.50. Geesh!

The times are definitely changing and not always for the better indeed. I wonder what your grandchildren will say when they are your and Sherry's age with how things are so much more different than when they were growing up.

Jack I know I am living in the wrong time to fit in with the kids of today. I agree with all what you said. And something for me to add to it - is moving away from the family unit - and the second is the electronics - no one is going to be talking to another real soon. The English language, libraries, cursive, maybe even writing itself - will just go away.
There are just some traits or skills that feel good.
One is talking...

I think gasoline prices are being manipulated too. Speed limits in our area by the interstate used to be 60mph, they just raised them to 70mph. Now everyone goes 80mph.

I always think that I'm glad to be the age I am right now I would have a very hard time keeping up in today's world. With being retired, I feel I don't have to. But I don't envy young people. Still they don't know how it was when we were young, so it's not different for them. I definitely live in the slow lane and I like it.

I understand how you feel, I feel that way also sometime. I remember when I was a little girl,I heard older people saying the same thing. Things just keep changing!
