Intensity….

I think I see every study made by doctors.  Now, losing weight and maintaining a good weight is determined by the INTENSITY of the exercise. Well at 74, walking is INTENSE BY GOODNESS!

No matter how hard you try, you cannot keep up with all the advice of YOUR doctor, Doctor OZ and Doctor Phil.  Not to forget the Universities and their studies.

To be honest this ‘information highway’ is causing a traffic jam in my life.

I am actually cutting back on portions (hard to do) and working (at present instead of exercising).  That should work since I am noticing some muscles sore that I wasn’t sure I had. (Plus the bumps on the noggin.)

I believe a lot of doctors know what they are doing. I also believe many doctors WANT to know what they are doing, BUT DO NOT.

I have learned in life that professionals are just humans. Some humans are more suited and insightful, along with caring, than others. Some Doctors are that just because daddy wanted it for them.

I know an Air conditioning man, George Painter. The guy is good. When he looks at your unit, you will know in just a few minutes what the problem is. I know others, I will not name, that work on Heat/AC and will finally fix it by ‘Easter egging’, (changing parts) and that is a fact.

I said that to say Doctors are no different, I think today there are more pill pushers than Doctors who want to diagnose and cure.  I am not sure I trust my doctor, and he is a great guy. If he were to diagnose me with a life changing or threatening problem I would really want a second opinion.

Am I griping again tonight?  Sorry.

PS:

It is good to know anyone’s track record, mechanic or doctor.

I agree second opinions are worthwhile.

I've come to some of the same conclusions.

I have to agree with you, Jack, I too would get a second opinion. I think doctors these days are so worried about the possibility of getting sued that they feel they have to work up any problem a person comes to see them for with multiple tests to cover all bases. I think the best doctors out there are pediatricians and vets; they have to diagnose their patients on what they see objectively with the history of others around them, but not the patient themselves.

It seems once you start taking pills and tests it goes on and on. Sometime you feel like just stopping but then you're afraid they are right.

We have to be pro-active about our health care. There is NO way I would let my Mama stay in a hospital room without me being by her side 24/7. That's just the way it is. I check every med that is administered to her (before it is administered) as to name and dosage amount. I'm not a nurse, but I do know her medicines and what she is supposed to be taking. One cannot be too careful when it comes to health care these days.
And....ALWAYS get a second opinion.
Just sayin'.

It is very hard to find a doctor you can trust. I've found that they all want to send you through a round of tests whether there is anything wrong or not. They are so afraid they will be wrong so they send you off to specialists just to make sure. I check up isn't at all what it used to be. I haven't found one I like or trust in a long time. There may come a day I'll have to trust one, but hopefully not for a long time yet. Meanwhile I hope we all keep healthy and enjoy life such as it is.

I definately feel that way. Strange, but rather than ask my cardiologist a question, I ask my family physician. As for second opinions if it were serious I may go to another Doctor. It took the guy that helped me up and my whole family to get me to go to the doctor after the fall. Spunky just has to come through this ok. His age is against him but he is strong willed.

The Doctors I trusted have all
retired. I just hope I stay healthy
and don't require lots of visits.
I think the young Doctors use us to get their experience.

I agree always get a second opinion.

I asked my son, a doctor, about that. He says the doctors tell us what to do - myself included, but people won't do it - so they have to give them medicine to try to help. sandie
