What a trip! PLUS the BIG DAY!

 Pic of the day;

                                                     Sept 22, 1956

Below might be our 50th anniversary.
 The Peak of Katahdin, we hiked near 2000 miles, but had to skip 200 miles, to reach the end.  this was HER idea.  Most of the crazy ideas in our  marriage have been mine, BUT hiking the Appalachian Trail was HER idea.

 For today:

WE got to see a lot of family on Sherry’s side and lots of friends that knew Vernon and Janet. As a matter of fact, the pastor used both names about the same thru this wonderful lady's service. It was sweet, because they were one.

We took off immediately after the service; taking I-77 to I-81.  Man o’ man I had forgotten how beautiful this drive is. Our Eastern Mts seldom reach the 5,000 ft height, BUT are beautiful.  We drove thru Fancy Gap and into Virginia. Ahhhh the views ARE FATASTIC the farmland in the valleys just takes my breath.  Even the old, dilapidated barns have a beauty of their own.

And the Draper Valley!! What can one say? More & more pastural beauty. Oh, but then at sunset those rays lit up the colors.  My camera was dead, but Sherry did her best to catch some on her phone.  (I could not figure how to get a pic off Sherry's phone, BUT I actually was able to send one pic to Jack Jr. on his phone. (He knows this stuff!) Then he sent it to me on my-email so here it is!)

The sunset lit those trees up like they were gold or on fire!  You notice Sherry's Bible on the dash, She uses that to calm her in my driving.

BUT we were unable to get a site for the RV so we spent the night at 2 Rest areas, and woke up on SEPT 22nd, in the beautiful farmland of Pennsylvania!  I had forgotten the beauty here also. But HAPPINESS was waking up with my sleeping Beauty.

I usually make her a card for special days, but I tried to make the card, I found I had most of the supplies where I could not get to them with the set up in the Travel mode.  But I did come up with this:

Cover up inside down

I usually do a more professional job with her cards, but I had to improvise, LOL.
 We went out to Red Lobster here in Lancaster for dinner, it was delicious

Yep, this is our 68th Wedding anniversary. The success of our marriage solely rest on THIS wonderful lady. SHE IS THE BEST!

More tomorrow. Right now I must figure a place to take her for dinner here in Lancaster…

Thanks for reading.

Congrats on your 68 years together! There are not many that get that many years of marriage with the same person. I've been in some parts of that mountain range and you are right, it is beautiful. Hope you find a good place to eat. There should be some Amish restaurants around there. I think? Their food is always good! Enjoy your trip!
