SECOND ENTRY OF THE DAY. This one takes the lead. Thanks to Glenda for sending it to me.
Navy Petty Officer Mike Monsoor
PO2 (EOD2)(Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Mike Monsoor, a Navy EODTechnician, was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumouslyfor jumping on a grenade in Iraq , giving his life to save his fellowSeals.During Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego, as his coffin was beingmoved from the hearse to the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans NationalCemetery, SEAL's were lined up on both sides of the pallbearers routeforming a column of two's, with the coffin moving up the center. AsMike's coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his gold Trident fromhis uniform, slapped it down embedding the Trident in the woodencoffin.
The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the
coffin arrived grave side, it looked as though it had
a gold inlay from all the Tridents pinned to it.
This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero. This should be front-page news instead of the crap we see every day.Since the media won't make this news,
I choose to make it news by forwarding it .
I am proud of our military. Rest assured that these fine men and women of our military
will continue to serve and protect.
God Bless our Troops

Thank you for sharing this with us. It took years for one of our hometown hero's to be recognized with a monument in his honor after he jumped on a grenade just like this young man.

Hi Jack,
It's always good to find another Veteran's Blog on-line. I served in Vietnam as a helicopter DoorGunner with the 240th AHC: 68-70 and got our of the Army 30 March 70, and suffer from Combat PTSD. I managed to squeak out 30.5 years and retired from Chrysler in Kenosha, WI and now reside in a quiet, small country town between Milwaukee and Chicago with my wife, a dog and a cat. I am also a welder, carpenter, wood carver, edged weapons trainer and a Christian warrior/ bible student. I write a Journal that tries to help other disabled Vets deal with the corrupt VA system to get what is rightfully theirs. Hope to hear from you some time soon!
Cordially,
