I served aboard this air craft carrier, It's name was "USS INDEPENDENCE CVA62" So all mama's boys were in the USN. ( I just got there late).
Hope you have a great Independence Day.
The colonies declared our independence from the King. That started the Revolutionary War. The King was right to try to keep what he considered his. Since I don’t think he had ever been here, I don’t think he knew how much his subjects had paid to clear and take this land. IT was a BIG misunderstanding that resulted in the loss of over 35,000 lives. The majority of them American Revolutionaries. At that time we had the French to thank for our victory. Without their help we would have lost the war. (Note: WWII we paid that debt back in spades)
I like Independence. We seem to lose a little all the time, but the population increases and we hire more politicians who’s job it is to make laws. We for some reason need more and more laws, why is that? It would be nice if they would dedicate one session to clearing the books of some laws. We should be able to function for a few months without more new laws being passed.
We had some brilliant men writing the Declaration of Independence and our constitution. I appreciate their work. If I am not mistaken they served without pay. Most died or suffered terribly for their efforts on behalf of Independence.
Anyway this Independence Day I am thankful that this is a free nation. I do not like all that goes on, but I am glad to be an American.
Until I had traveled some I never knew folks over the world were also just as proud of their heritage and countries. The Canadians, the Mexicans, the British, Italians, French, Spanish, Greeks and Turks. All have a History and heritage, BUT today is OUR day.
Thank God for our Independence and the men that have fought and the ones who have died to preserve. BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW, FREEDON IS NOT FREE!

Have a happy and safe 4th of July. I just sent the cops away. lol
Great post!!! Yes! Freedom IS NOT FREE. Happy 4th of July!
I too am glad to be an American. Nice entry on this July 4th. I like the picture of your brothers sitting on the moon. My only brother was in the navy too.
I wouldn't won't to live any other place but here. Visited a couple others, enjoyed it, but still prefer the great ole U.S.A. Hope you had a nice 4th. I know you did because you got to spend it with your honey...Sheila
I haven't been around much but, I've been reading snippits here and there. This was a great post. I've lived in Europe and Mexico - while I enjoyed my time there, I LOVE living here in the states.
My dad and both my boys have/are serving in the USN.
Amen!
Hope you had a great 4th!
Love ya'll
Terri
