Since I can remember I liked the end pieces from the loaf bread. After our 1100 mile trip to Florida and back we visited with Grand daughter Reece and Son Mark for a few minutes. Unpacked (packing and unpacking is something we are not used to doing) and I checked my computer 100 e-mails to answer. OUCH.
But first I see three tomatoes left on the counter. I drooled. Shirl grows some big tomatoes, but mostly she grows the grape/cherry tomatoes, good and sweet. Friend Evelyn gave us a BAG of nice tomatoes, sweet and juicy. The three are all that is left. One loaf bag had two end pieces left, I took as divine sanction to have a tomato sandwich.
I still have a fourth of it left as I type and wish I had two more. My favorite sandwich in the world is a red tasty tomato, salt, pepper, bread and mayo,, . That is what I have, topped off with the bread being end pieces, LOVE IT.Now I do like ham(or bacon), lettuce and or cheese on it, but for PURE enjoyment just the bread, mayo and tomato!
(Then add the top piece!)
Now there is none left… I ate it all, and wish I had not eaten it yet. Now my Sherry had a half sandwich, HALF SANDWICH? says I, Impossible with fresh good tomatoes like these!
We did something NEW this trip. Entering Florida Sherry became the chauffeur. I took to the smart phone to get a motel. Never have done this. But I reserved a room at a Microtel in Lady Lake, FL. That is adjacent to The Villages, where Sherry’s Appt was. To be truthful I nearly reserved a room in Wisconsin for some reason, but caught the error.
Our Grand daughter Reece rents our house here where call home port. The Refrigerator died Wednesday, the day we left. I had tried to keep it going but it gave up the ghost. Sherry ordered a new refrig over her smart phone on the way home today. She did good. It is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. We are sorta hoping it isn’t delivered to Wisconsin or our address in Florida.
It is good to be back in our Motor home,

Good to 'see' you again, Jack! (To tell the truth, I was a little concerned when you mentioned on Rick's blog about a fire.)
I've only learned to like tomatoes in the last few years ... yes, they've got to be combined with bread or pasta. Easy does it, don't ya know!
This made my mouth water. I hope you're satisfied mister:)
I've been enjoying some of those good tomato sandwiches. I've only got one tomato left on the counter here but I do have plenty of bread. A trip to the country will be forthcoming to restock, Glad you made the trip safely and are at the home port once again. Smart phones are wonderful ! Hope the fridge comes soon and to the right place.
Happy to hear all went well with your trip! Tomatoes look delish, enjoy!!!
Jack, you're more technologically advanced than me. I'm impressed with the amazing things you and Sherry can do with your phones.
But on the tomato sandwich I know exactly what you're talking about!
That is absolutely the best sandwich ever, now you have me wanting one! Glad your trip went well!
Now I want to get some tomatoes from the farmer's market here tomorrow and make one of those sandwiches :) Sounds yummy :) Glad you guys are back safe and sound! It is amazing what we can do on our smart phones these days; kind of scary with what we can buy too. Someone who has trouble with impulsive buying could be doubly in trouble with a smart phone!
betty
Glad you're back home and eating good ole' tomato sandwiches. My tomatoes on my one tomato plant have been long gone for a long time. They didn't grow too large probably because of the container it was planted in but it made a lot and they were good.
Tomatoes are good any way they are prepared. The tomato sandwich
is the best. Glad you all are back home. Since you ordered the
refrigerator over the phone I wonder what kind they will deliver.
Glad everything on Sherry's follow-up Dr.'s visit was good.
