Thursday… Cars.

 Photo of the day:

The 1956 Ford T-Bird

So for today:

Most folks Know I am sort of a car nut, most boys my age were.  WE couldn’t wait until we were 16 and get a driver’s license.

My cousin Bobby lived in South Carolina, and he could get license at 14. Shucks!!

In my teen days we could hardly wait for the showing of NEXT year's new cars.  What a thrill to go to a dealership to see that new 53/54/55 Chevy, Ford, or Plymouth. There were major changes every 3 years it seemed.

The Studebaker got a lot of laughs “Which end is the front?” etc.

1956 Power Hawk Stud. The studebaker did have some great innovations.

And then in the late 40’s there was going to be the newest and best, called the Tucker. It fizzled. Then came the big fizzle, the Edsel, big ads, big push, but even the big Ford plan/designers can make mistakes.

My pick was the 55 Chevy, I will admit the ’57 made a bigger splash but I still preferred the ’55.  I borrowed a Brand new one to go ask Sherry for the first date.  LOL She couldn’t turn me down, right?

I am starting to like the Mini Cooper from the UK.  Seeing a lot more of them over on this side. I am trying to remember what books I read and loved in which the main investigator had a hopped up Mini.

Nite Shipslog

PS:

AGAIN THANKS for reading the  Shipslog.  LOL  I have most likely said all this before... Sorry  I am old. LOL

We all liked seeing the new cars come out each year too. They had some style back then. Today most cars look the same. My first car was a 1970 Doge Challenger. Red of course.
