Picture of the day
BUT for now:
I mentioned
Buddy’s funny story about his name change in the first grade, we all got a
laugh out of that. His friendship comes from church. Our dad’s were both preachers. I am not sure
if all minister’s kids have a wandering spirit, but we have. You have heard (or
know) that preacher’s kids are mean.
That was true of Bud, Me? I was an angel. :-O. Of course we claimed that
meanness came from the fact we played with the deacon’s kids.
It is
strange how that first 16-18 years of your life forms you. But back to Bud.
He as the
witty guy, we were all cool, but Buddy was our Fonz! Quick with wit, and when necessary,
quick with a fist. I did see Bud and Vondale win a couple fights at separate
times that could not be avoided. Me? Nah, I was the lover. Thank goodness we
were just having fun 99.9% of the time.
But, back to the
present. Did you hear of the flooding in Florida? WE here in Eustis got about
20” of rain. That is about .5 meter I am told. We had a little flooding here in
the park. Flooding was within a couple hundred feet. But many of the roads are
ruined, that is the most the town has ever seen.
This coach
leaked a little but nothing to cause us to drive off. Of course we did not even know that until the
next day.

PS.
The friends I have been
fortunate to know over years are most church related, next Sherry’s past and my
military experience. I had very close buddies in Valdese (grades 7 & 8) Jim
and Bub Page, Guy Abee and Peter David Hunt. Jim Page is the only one I still
know. He is one of those ‘great guys.’
Jim was the only one of us boys
that was industrious. Jim shined shoes on Sat. mornings at the barber shop.

Love your stories of your friends and the friendship you have.
I have heard of that rain in Florida - awful. And the hurricane in Jamaca. :(
Praying for your safety in the rain and flooding.
God bless.
Good morning! I hope by now you've dried out; we're getting some dreary -- but much needed -- rainfall here this morning. I'll say it again, you and Sherry are so blessed by the friends you've made. I can't remember the brand, but there was a sweet commercial jingle that went something like, "Here's to good friends, tonight is something special."
Flooding? Not here for sure. we are still very dry. Hope you stay safe and are able to keep dry. You do have a good friend there. It's always great to visit with old friends ! I miss mine who now live in different states . We do keep in tough on the phone, but it's not the same.
Hope you're staying dry!!
I love all your photos and this post is great. Praying for your safety.
I was just reading your comment on our mutual friend Myra's "Respice/Prospice" blog post, and saw you mention that you are in Eustis, FL, and just went through that 20" rain deluge! I live up the road through the forest and on the other side of it, near Palatka, in Interlachen. I grew up in Tavares! I am VERY familiar with Eustis, Mt. Dora, and all of Lake County, having lived there all of my childhood/teenage days and some adult days too. You talk about being a preacher's kid, and my hubby is a retired preacher, so we had three preacher's kids, all boys, and yes, they can be challenging! It's hard having to live up to everyone else's expectations, isn't it? People don't think you should be a normal kid...you should be perfect if you're a preacher's kid. Somehow that rarely happens...and if they are perfect as a kid, somehow it comes apart as an adult. Can only be perfect for so long! Something's gotta give! LOL. I was just so surprised to see that you are living there...sounds like in a park? Wondering which...there are many. Perhaps near the fairgrounds or out that direction? Anyway, I know the area well, and I'm glad to hear that you weren't in the middle of that 1000 year flood! The roads look like they are really messed up around the golden triangle area. Hopefully you can still get to places you need to go.
Just wanted to say howdy to another central Floridian, living in my old stomping grounds! That area got too crowded for us. We like the country life out here in the boonies! Blessings to you and yours.
And btw, we didn't get ANY of that rain! We have a pond that has gone dry from drought this year, and could really use some of that water you all got!
